Altaira is a quiet and calm studier of the world. Since she was young, she's always felt drawn to the past, the mistakes and successes, the mysteries of her elders and the building blocks of the world she's come to know today. She quickly decided at a young age that she wanted to join the realm of collecting that knowledge and developed a love for piecing together timelines and searching old tomes for treasures in the shape of words from those long gone.

She is intelligent and patient, willing and open to listening to others and their strife. While she is sometimes distracted by her own thoughts, she tends to be a very focused individual.

Her ultimate dream is finding the truth of her own family, as that is something that has been lost to time over the years and with no living relatives to turn to, she's resolved to determining it through the words of others. Were they like her? Intellectuals, historians? Were they simpleminded folk who preferred labor tasks? The biggest mystery she faces is herself, and truly it is a compelling one.

She tends to be selfless and caring towards others, unless her work is involved. She can easily become tunnelvisioned on learning things, even putting herself or others in dangerous positions unintentionally when a specific lead becomes too enamoring to ignore. As such, she prefers not growing too attached to others for fear of leading them into problematic situations.

She does sometimes wonder how much of life she's missing by putting her work above everything else.

Altaira grew up an orphan with no knowledge of her roots or where she came from. While she knows her family is out there somewhere, she's never run into anyone quite like her... Which is a lonely life, but it only makes her all the more determined to search for the truth. While, fully, she has little desire to return to her family (they did abandon her, after all, as far as she knows); she simply wants to know the answers as to herself and has hinged her entire value on the reason she was built into the person she is now.

Needless to say, it becomes problematic, and is very much the reason why she doesn't seem to have much of a personality on the surface beyond her pursuit of knowledge. She has deep wounds about her value and what she's really capable of, and spends too much time lost in the past to move forward, even if she'd heavily reject you suggesting such a thing.
