One day she was caught by Mona on her hunt and she looked her in the eye and saw a part of herself inside this young woman... out of nowhere she felt the urge to hug this deadly but fragile girl.
These two shared a connection without words, Mona cried from the warmth the food showed her, she was the first one. Monika called her her family.
For Mona Artemia fits a role of a Mother or Sister, w/e Monika feels like or what she needs at the time.

Artemia herself requested for Mona to turn her, she was considerate a witch and hated by her town blaming every misfortune on her existence she planned to drown herself in a well the day she met Mona thus changing her plans and finding someone who cares about her and for her to care for.
Being a magic user Artemia had certain difficulties in her turning into a vampire, she was bed ridden for months but with time she manages to get used to new magical energy source and mastered the dark arts.

-Monika treats Artemia as an equal.
-Artemia sees Mona as a little capricious sister, often being the only one that she listens to.
-She can use magic, he speciality is the elements of darkness and fire.
-Can control her hair
-Does not care too much for blood. May go violent depending on circumstances
