Rosie

Preface

Rosie actually started out as how I drew my Mayor for Animal Crossing New Leaf! The hairstyle, sleepy eyes, and glasses are all from my mayor's look. She evolved further when I drew her with a chubby body type and eventually became her own thing. 

Profile

Rosie grew up in a relatively rural town with her older brother Basil, her mother Holly, and her grandmother Orchid. They lived in a cozy house together in the woods somewhere in Oregon. Her grandmother was a widow and her mother a divorcee, both were strong magic users that were more than willing to share their knowledge with the children. Rosie was able to wander through the woods and collect plants and cool rocks that shed be able to find in her field guide. She was bright and energetic, eager to learn and read. 

Rosie never lost her curious nature as she grew up, devoting most of her time to studying magics and spells. As a result, she usually earned great marks on her exams; even earning herself a prestigious scholarship! Rosie found herself attending one of the top magic schools in the world, doing her best to make her family proud. She wanted to help the world with her magic, even in little ways, she wanted to leave the world better than when she came into it. 

She found she was especially good at brewing potions and even making enchanted food. Rosie found her niche in baking food imbued with magic, eventually opening a humble bakery in town. ((you can practically smell the Kiki's Delivery Service but shshshsh bread good)) Sometimes a rune is drawn on the dough or batter before baking, made with special herbs, or baked with a potion mixed right in the dough. Most of the ones she makes are either a medicine or modify the body in some way. Like a muffin that helps ease headaches, a tea that relieves joint pain, or a cupcake that gives you animal ears for like an hour. There are some special cases where she helps ease a pregnancy, soothe symptoms of a serious illness, or even help a person with making their body more to their liking, mostly with transgender people. The more serious or permanent ones usually require more expensive or rare ingredients, but she is more than willing to work with her customers to get them what they need. 

Friendship with Dottie

It was late one night during Rosie's college days. Rosie was coming back to her apartment from the library, she found an intruder passed out on the floor. The person turned out to be someone she thought was a classmate since she had seen her so much on campus, but the 7 foot tall demoness on her floor was just a party girl. Rosie found that the girl's name was Dottie, and had stumbled in thinking it was someone else's place. Dottie offered that she'd buy them some pizza to make up for it, and being sick of ramen noodles, Rosie agreed. Rosie didn't think Dottie would stay longer than that one night but... she kept coming over. Luckily usually with some kind of edible or monetary gift. Eventually they just kind of became good friends and roommates. Dottie was pretty savvy in magics and was able to help with some of Rosie's Demonology courses, and Rosie was a lot more calming and chill than a lot of Dottie's other more rambunctious friends. She liked that about her. Dottie gave Rosie the star necklace she always wears around her neck, and Rosie got Dottie her tongue piercing.

Dottie helped Rosie come back out of her shell a little. She learned Rosie was bullied as a young girl for being fat and for having a larger bust at a young age, putting her into the shell in the first place. Dottie was outraged, and desperately wanted to help Rosie regain her confidence.  She encouraged her to dress more fashionably or wear make up. Rosie never really thought about that kind of stuff before and it did help with her confidence a lot! For the first time in her life she felt fine about being chubby, even feeling sexy. Dottie cares for her a lot, and wants Rosie to be the bad ass bitch she knows she can be.

More Magic Abilities

Rosie uses a wand to cast most of her spells. It's not that special, wands are kind of like pencils in her world. You can have dozens but doesn't really depend on the brand or quality, it's the person behind the tool that matters. Anyone who tries to sell you on a wand "choosing you" is probably a scammer. She also has quite a few rings on her fingers that help channel her magics (don't worry, she takes them off when baking).
