Rei is vehemently opposed to memory technology and the system that it has created. Taking great pride in having never been treated with memory therapy, she values having a mind that she knows is entirely her own... Ironically, she's completely unaware that her whole life has been fabricated.
Hot-tempered and rebellious, Rei is heavily driven by emotions. She's tough and doesn't take shit from anyone, but she also appreciates a good laugh and some playful humor. Despite her intimidating demeanor, she actually carries a lot of sympathy - and even a little pity - for people who have been afflicted with memory illnesses. Part of her passion for revolution stems from a commitment to seek justice for those people. She lives in a world of black and white, and is stubborn about her principles and beliefs.
Having lived on the streets, Rei knows the ins and outs of the city, yet she never tires of exploring its hidden locales, especially the dangerous ones. She enjoys makeup, nail polish, and fashion - things that she had grown up without and had always admired from afar.
Her long and silky hair is raven-black, save for the purple undertones that only appear in the sunlight. Her bangs are just as long and fall freely over her face - until she ties her hair up, typically while on the job.
As the group's most skilled raider, she never goes without a gun in her belt or a small dagger in her holster. Alongside her peers in VERITAS, Rei seeks to reform the warped social order that memory technology has established, dreaming of a return to the privacy and freedom of the old days...

Character Traits
Background
In the year 2113, modern technology has achieved the digitization of human memories, allowing them to be created, destroyed, and stored like files. Memory therapy has become a common and expected practice in the urban region of Hong Kong. While the general public maintains carefree lives as a result of these treatments, the government wields total control over both memory clinics and memory banks - and no one questions its authority. Within the shadows of this society, the rebel group VERITAS sows seeds of revolution. They are a band of misfits, victims of the system who believe that the government is erasing its citizens and rewriting the truth.
Biography
Daughter of an influential memory scientist, Rei grew up in wealth and was spoiled with everything... until jealous competitors sabotaged her father's culminating project. In an attempt to salvage the livelihood of his family, he coerced Rei into his experiment to develop absolute memory erasure and implantation.
After the removal of her 11-year-old existence, Rei was "remade" with false memories - she was now born into poverty, and had always grown up on the streets, fighting for her life. For the experiment, Rei's father threw her into the slums of Hong Kong, but then shortly disappeared, leaving his project behind. His assistants continued to secretly study Rei's actions for 10 years, and then abandoned her. Although her father's technique is now widely acclaimed, it's an expensive procedure and few can afford its luxury.
Rei went on with her new life, knowing nothing else. The experience steeled her, cultivated her contempt towards memory technology, and led her to VERITAS, where she found peace with like-minded peers.
Locke Yuen
[ teammate ] She's always put off by Locke's cold attitude, and she tolerates him only due to Rigel's request. Rei frequently disagrees with his pragmatism, but she also holds profound sympathy for his condition, and wishes she could help.

[ teammate ] Rei respects Rigel's leadership abilities immensely, and admires his kindness and optimism. While she follows his judgment with absolute loyalty, she also sees him as a person with a frail heart, and feels compelled to protect him.
