Background

Eska was made as a sort of special order, like many grems are, for a man who lived near Snosoff, Rallome. The man in question, Leighton Tikaani, requested Eska at 2 years, and insisted to train the Grem himself for the conditions he lived in. Upon receiving the young Grem, he proved to be a bit more on the wild side. The first few months he stayed outside with Leighton’s sled dogs, tearing up cushions that where used for beds and often separated at night as to make sure he didn’t harm the others.
After a year of careful training and lessons, along with the occasional nips from the lead sled dog, Eska finally started filling out his role for the sledding part. However, he still had to learn how to help around his companions farm. Learning to be the farmhand was much easier to teach thankfully, and Eskel started to develop his personality even more so, especially when he met the chickens. He became a friendly and hard working Grem, and had proven to be a reliable part of the family, and Leighton had even begun to see him as a sort of son. On the 4th year, Eska was finally put into the team to help his companion make sledding trips to nearby towns and hunting expeditions. His talents quickly came to light as he became one of the strongest in the team, his stamina surpassing his fellow canine companions. Years passed peacefully, and at one point Eska even helped participate in a medicine run to a nearby town that was miles away from their cozy farm house.

However, all good things must come to an end. While going on their routine sled run, they found themselves at the mercy of an avalanche. Eska had managed to pull himself and the team out from the snowy prison, but much of the team had suffered injuries including Leighton and Eska. Trying his hardest, he managed to use some of the equipment and blankets to cover the others. After hours of waiting for rescue and most severely injured, 5 out of 8 of the team was able to hold out for rescue, unfortunately not including his owner. Eska received medical attention immediately and recovered with hardly a problem, but he had suffered a great loss. The people of the town were compassionate towards Eska, and decided it was best for him to take over his owners farm, in which he unwillingly agreed was for the best. For years, he felt like a piece of him was gone, not even the remaining dogs he grew up with or the farm animals he loved could lift the weight off his chest. It wasn’t until a snow storm had hit that he heard a knock at his door, that night he had met the human that would help fill his void, Noah Akrittok. They had become quick friends over that night, and had continued visits in town and even at one another’s homes. Now Eska is content and happy in his home once again, even participating in Noah’s team during certain tournaments of the year and spending his time in the woods of Rallome.
