They say her survival was an omen of death, Hibiscus has grown up surrounded by tragedy. Being the only survivor of greencough, which took the lives of her mother and littermates, Hibsicuspaw trained as an herbalist - vowing that no one would experience the same loss as she did. Her survival was considered an omen by some, and a miracle by others.
Plagued by loss, CoastalClan’s future hangs in the balance of Hibiscus but she’s not sure if she can be their savior. After so much loss and tragedy, Hibiscus is breaking under the weight of the very world she’s destined to save. With the silence of the Beyond, and Coastalstrike’s warning drawing near, will she break free and save CoastalClan from their Founder’s judgement?
Or will she drown underneath the waves?

A once soft-spoken apprentice with a fluttering heart, Hibiscus was once the shy, kind-hearted herbalist apprentice of CoastalClan. She enjoyed her simple life, not wanting to push herself out of her comfort zone. After being chosen by the Beyond and facing losses no apprentice should have to experience, she’s been morphed into an independent cat with a savior complex. Forced to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders, Hibiscus is now a lonesome sad sack with a cynical tongue. She’s blunt and goes straight to the point - no sugar coating.
Hibiscus wants nothing more than to run away from the Clan she’s destined to save. It’s no longer her home, but she can’t. She acts as if she doesn’t care if CoastalClan is destroyed or not, but she does and she hates it. There’s irony to her name, Hibiscushope, she feels anything but hopeful. Nowadays, grief and guilt toll heavily on the herbalist’s shoulders. She’s much more apathetic than empathetic nowadays, not really having a reason or care to give a shit about cats who hurt her in the past. She’s more likely to snap your ear off than care for you.
Mostly ignored when she was younger, Hibiscus became an overachiever. Constantly pushing herself to do better or do anything to earn her mentor or father’s favor. All she wanted to do was fit in, and even in adulthood, when she claims to not care. She still finds herself pushing herself to do better, to do more. Hibiscus molds herself into being the savior her Clan needs, even though she doesn’t have the energy to try. A star in the sea who’ll burn out before she knows it.

Born to two respected fighters, Reeffang and Pelicanfern. Hibiscus learned how cruel fate could be when her mother and littermates were found dead in the nursery, with a tiny Hibiscuskit barely clutching onto her mother’s side. No one knows what caused this. One day, she was fine and the next, she was gone. Losing his kits and mate, Reeffang turned his grief into anger. Blaming his only surviving kit as the sole reason they’re gone, and never letting her forget it. While Beetlebane considered her survival a miracle, Reeffang considered her an omen of death.
Given to another nursing queen named Roseatebloom at an early age, she never accepted her or her step-siblings as her real ‘mom’ or ‘family.’ Snapping at her, her ‘siblings’, and the other monarchs. Her mother was Pelicanfern. Her siblings were Daylilykit, Whirlkit and Shellkit. Dead, dead, and dead. When she chased after the ‘love’ and ‘attention’ of her father, she was met with cold stares, growls, and claws in the shadows. She was threatened into silence. Believing no one would believe the kit who ‘took the lives’ of her kin. All of this led to her developing an anxiety disorder at a young age.
