Rami

The Amphibian Outfitter (he/they/she)

Design:

• Rami is an axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum).
  • Rami has the signature 3 pairs of gills coming out of the side of their head that are styled in a way that looks like hair.
• Rami is quite short, only standing at around 4’6”.
• Rami has a somewhat weasel-esk body type, with digitigrade legs, a long torso, a thick and long neck, and short arms with no visible wrists. Rami also has a fairly wide and somewhat flat head.
  • Rami also has a very hunched posture and does not stand fully upright.
• Rami has multiple brown freckles on his face that run down their back to the tail. Some of these splotches are also on her feet.
  • It is not required but try to keep these freckles somewhat consistent.
  • Rami is a "dirty leucistic" axolotl, which is why he has freckles.
• When Rami closes her eyes or blinks, only the “pupils” will appear to close. Rami doesn’t have eyelids.
• Rami’s mouth is often in a V-shape.
• Rami wears a variety of outfits but if often seen in a waistcoat befitting of his job as a tailor. Rami can be drawn with any of the outfits they’re wearing in their gallery.
• Rami is often seen wearing various tailor’s tools such as a wrist pin cushion or measure tape wrapped around his arm.

Personality:

• Fairly bookish and a bit air-headed.
• Has a habit of going on long tangents when talking.
• Likes to listen to other people talk. Will listen intently to the stories told by others.
• Passionate and a bit obsessive.
• Eager to make others happy.
• Easily able to remove things from his conscious.
• Secretive and a bit sly.

Other info:

• Rami is a tailor. He primarily alters existing clothing but can make clothing herself fairly easily.
  • Rami is quite adept at making hats.
  • Rami has his own shop and is located in Splatsville.
  • Rami often makes alterations or custom clothing for the various different species of Splatsville in order to accommodate their specific needs.
• The name “Rami” comes from the scientific name for the gill stalks of an axolotl (which are called rami).
• Rami is genderfluid.
• Rami is about 35.
• Rami is secretly working with Stetson and his illegal business, mostly as a side gig.
  • Rami is very secretive about this. They modify illegal gear in the basement of their workshop, mainly by giving them abilities they shouldn’t have.
  • He also supplies Stetson with most of his wares (not all of which are actually illegally altered).
  • Rami’s illegal gear altering services are based on an old hack from Splatoon 2, where players would hack illegal gear into the game which would then spread as other players ordered them off each other. 
• Rami has a habit of making squeaking or chirping noises when working on something. This is usually involuntary and is usually a result of intense focus or surprise.
• Rami has pretty poor vision and relies heavily on his glasses. 
• Rami is fairly unique amongst regular civilians for being an amphibian. It is possible that axolotls are one of the only —if not the only— remaining amphibians.
  • Rami sometimes gets questions from others about what it’s like to be an amphibian. She is usually eager to answer questions but sometimes these inquiries can come across as insensitive or rude.
• If for whatever reason Rami were to lose a limb or body part, it would regrow. This is because axolotls in the real world have this regenerative ability.
