Babs
About
Barbara is a pugnacious young middle schooler who solves problems with her fists. She is very "act first ask questions never".
She is the defacto leader of the local group of Star Warriors, a collection of troubled pre-teens who borrow the magical energy of baby Stars in order to channel positive energy into them and help them grow. Babs enjoys the parts that involve punching but that's about it. Though she is prickly on the outside, Babs cares deeply about a lot of things. She simply feels the need to internalize in order to avoid ridicule. Secretly she falls in love very quickly and reacts by punching, as with most things.
Her power manifests in the form of giant hands, which she uses to punch, push, and grab things. Much of her life revolves around her hands, as she used them to communicate during her period of mutism - for better or worse. She's very fashionable and likes to dress up, even when she's not going anywhere special. Her hair is bleached, as she thought this would be a way to ingratiate herself to her peers and also act as a fresh start for middle school.

Background
Barbara was born to a deaf Laotian father and an American mother. When her parents' marriage fell apart she was only seven, and this took a heavy toll on her. Living only with her father she eventually grew more and more nonverbal until she eventually refused to speak altogether. Her school enlisted the only speech therapist who understood ASL, who normally worked at the middle school next door. After much work with her he coaxed her out of her shell, and became closer not only with her but with her father as well. The two married a few short years later.
When she moves on the middle school Babs finds herself the object of ridicule as a result of her brief period of muteness, her deaf father, and having gay parents. She lashes out with anger and finds herself getting disciplined by the school repeatedly. Her inability to properly handle her anger led Starmaster to her, an other-worldly being who enjoys working with "problem children" in order to care for his Stars and help the children grow alongside them.
At first Babs is resistant to the magical powers considering one of the catches is that she can't use them for revenge or other negative actions, not to mention how she is expected to work on a team as well. Eventually they manage to worm their way into her heart.

Starmaster boss???
Babs is extremely frustrated by Starmaster's happy-go-lucky nature and his confidence in his authority over her. That being said, she appreciates having an outside perspective on things that get her upset. His goofiness endears him to her eventually and she comes to see him as a mentor - though she'll never admit it out loud.
Parvana teammate
Parvana doesn't go out of her way to bother Babs and this is fine in her book. She thinks Parvana's art is really nice but doesn't like to admit it. She's slightly jealous of how easily Parvana gets along with their mutual friend Carlos.
