"Don't go getting the idea that we're friends or something."

Growing up an orphan in a monastery, Eldryn is wise beyond his years but lacks social graces. He deeply desires to learn more about his past and his family as he was abandoned as a baby. The only thing he has to go off of is the locket and a piece of parchment left with him at the steps of the monastery. The locket inscribed with the insignia of the god of knowledge Oghma and the parchment reading a single word, Eldryn. Around the age of 17, Eldryn set off to explore the world, gain knowledge, and learn more about his family heritage. He hasn't learned much about his blood family, but gained family in a halfling named Vikk who he is now married to and travels with. The two of them travel the land in search of stories and information.

Eldryn was born to Eilnala, a somewhat non-traditionalist wood elf who spent much of her time reading and studying all forms of religion, particularly Oghma. Interested in learning more about the Mulhorandi pantheon, she spent much time speaking with a high-class noble Mulan man. Over time, they grew close, but their relationship was an unhealthy and volatile one. Once Eilnala discovered she was pregnant, she fled -- fearing that he would harm her unborn child if it was unearthed that he had a bastard half-breed child. She managed to find a monastery secluded from most of the bustling cities and left her newborn with the monks there. Before Eilnala left, she placed a golden locket with Oghma’s symbol inscribed upon it and a card with a single word on it, Eldryn. Inside the amulet, she had a word inscribed inside -- one that Eldryn constantly finds himself returning to, but unable to decipher.

Eldryn spent almost his entire life inside the monastery. As a child, he was mischievous and a troublemaker - constantly throwing fits or starting fights in an attempt to garner attention. He was bitter at his mother for abandoning him and felt like the world was against him. He bonded well with one of the monks who helped him connect with Oghma and taught him to play the lyre. His connection with music helped him channel his extra energy and emotions, and he frequently played religious hymns for worship ceremonies. His teacher helped him realize that his mother would not have left such a valuable, sacred item with him if she did not care for him, and it became his quest to find his parents and learn of his heritage. 

Around the age of 17, Eldryn had read all the books available to him and finished his studies. Ready to find out more about the world and his past, he set off to travel the world. A few days into his journey, he set up camp only to find himself mugged by a small band of humans. It is then that he meets the halfling Vikkal who became his traveling companion and later husband. He is now 22. In the span of their journey, Eldryn has traveled to numerous temples of Oghma and has learned more about his mother. He knows her name and has collected many of her old writings -- which he is working on compiling into a leather-bound book. Eldryn also learned that she was slain, but does not know any details of her death. He is currently seeking out his father and trying to learn more about her death. 

He is talented with the lyre and has been playing it since he was 11. He is not like most traditional bards who are eager to tell stories and are naturally charismatic. Due to his secluded upbringing, he is rather awkward and poor at conversation. However, he is deft lyrist and his music easily sways people and eases souls. He is more charismatic through music than he is with words.
