Asani

Asani grew up in a very interesting situation. Her family ran a slave trade, her father being the kidnapper and her mother being the trickster. It was the largest, most hidden slave trave in the area. Equines were tortured, whether it be for information or just pure fun, many died from malnutrition. Others wanted to die because of what had been done to them. Asani had more siblings than she would ever remember, or even know for that matter. However, she did have one full brother who was about two years older than her. When Asani was born in all her beauty, her parents discussed having females become the successor for their trade. With the unique chimeric beauty she had, she would be sure to turn out a great trickster. Asani's brother was fairly pissed off, while he had never been told he would be the successor, he always assumed. The news irritated him. He often picked on her, shoving her down physically and mentally in any way he could think of. Asani wasn't weak though, and would always evenly hand him what he threw at her. She didn't hate him for what he did, knowing jealousy was taking over his mind.

As she grew older, her parents began allowing her to monitor the slaves, practice at luring them in, and watch their beatings. Overall, she hated it. She didn't understand why such hatred needed to exist for strangers, but wouldn't dare speak a word of this to her parents. One mare they beat without remorse just stood there, taking it. Before her parents could finish, they were called to the border due to risk of a raid, but Asani stayed behind. She asked the mare several things, why she didn't fight back, why they hated her so much, what the punishment was for. The mare was patient and kind, answering every question the little filly had. She was in love with a former enemy of them, and they were trying to get information out of her, but she wouldn't give it up even if her life depended on it. Asani had a weird feeling inside of her that the mare explained was 'proud and heartbroken'. From that day on, Asani went back to the mare who began teaching her things. She taught her right from wrong, explaining her parents were angry with the world but their actions were not justifiable. She taught her what justice meant, how everyone deserved equality. It inspired Asani. She adored this mare, but before she could even let her know, she went back one day and her body laid there, destroyed.

She was heartbroken and furious, however she didn't dare show it. Her parents had set up an arranged marriage shortly after, and she played along until he began to get serious. He eventually tried to force himself onto her, and Asani lost it, biting the upper half of his right ear off. They started screaming and arguing, but before things could go any further, a rampage of equines entered the lands. It was a huge raid, it looked like a war from the higher lands. Asani knew this was her time to escape, to get rid of this god-awful family. She watched her parents fall to their demise below, her brother following. Karma is a bitch. Before they could find Asani, she left.
