They say 黑洋, Black Tide, is a powerful Demon Lord, with a personality as cold and rotten as his black heart. Many often told stories of him- dark and unsettling- meant to keep their children well behaved and prevent them from wandering after dark. They say he was bold, bold enough to steal from the treasuries of old and powerful beasts. They say he had a habit of lighting villages on fire in the dead of night. They say he stole a sacred sword from the formidable undersea palace of the fearsome Azure Dragon King. They say he killed his parents. No one knows for sure, and no one's going to ask him anytime soon.

HeiYang was never his birth name. Infact, he doesn't even remember it, having locked it away with the rest of his childhood- broken dreams, futile wishes, and such. What he doid remember though, was that it seemed like... it seemed like he was something that wasn't supposed to exist. Hidden away he was, along with his mother, to watch in the dark when certain people came by to talk to his father. He had been a bright, inquisitive child, and often questioned his mother about these things. Why did they have to hide? Why couldn't they go out and play like the other children he had seen outside? His mother was a mellow woman- kind and loving- but her face would only grow dark, and he'd recognise the unsaid message not to question it any further.

Unfortunately, secrets can't be hidden forever. They always come back to haunt you in your sleep.

He soon discovered what he was.

His own halfbreed nature didn't only affect him and in mother, it affected others as well. Once either side realised what he was, they would avoid him like the plague, saying he was weird, and that he wasn't right. To make fun of him, they called him “小黑！小黑！”- "Little black! Little black!"- a fitting name for a scrawny black cat like himself. Yet, faced with this kind of scorn since young, he quickly grew used to it. He understood he would never be like them, and eventually didn't think it was worth the energy to continue trying. He quickly grew to realise the world was unforgiving to those that were different, treating them like those ugly, deformed fruits that he saw thrown away at markets.
