BACKSTORY:

A Draconian swordsman with a bit of a rough past. He used to be a sea captain, making a living using his ship to ferry people around. These days, he travels with Astrid as a mercenary of sorts, killing bandits and monsters to protect civilians.

Larrus has learned to be cautious and judgemental in all aspects of life. He doesn't trust easily and is far from sociable. Nobody knows how Astrid managed to gain his trust, but he is immensely protective of her and will sacrifice himself for her without a moment's thought.

His demeanour is typically withdrawn; he doesn't like answering questions, doesn't like casual small talk, and doesn't like excessive friendliness. While he won't lose his temper without good reason, most people find his surly attitude very offputting. He has no qualms about snapping at anyone who won't respect his space. Hurting his loved ones, especially Astrid, can provoke him into a murderous rage that usually doesn't end well for the aggressor.

Larrus can be coldhearted. After years of fending for himself, he doesn't seem concerned by the prospect of killing, nor does he show guilt when he kills someone. He just wipes his sword clean and continues on his way. Despite everything, he does have a sense of humour, which is usually expressed through lighthearted insults and mockery.

DESIGN:

Larrus is a short man normally dressed in a brown shirt and tattered cloak. His left hand is gone, replaced by an enchanted hook that's capable of cleaving through light armour. He had chin-length black hair (usually messy from travelling and sailing) and yellow eyes that are often compared to a hawk's.

His weapon of choice is a red-hilted cutlass that he keeps sheathed to his right side. He has a few scars, but most are covered up.

ABILITIES:

Larrus is an immensely skilled swordsman, known for his speed and ruthlessness. He originally dual-wielded two swords; he now relies on his enchanted hook as a secondary weapon.

He's also a proficient navigator and can read sea charts and perform basic ship repairs.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Astrid

His travelling companion. They have a strong bond of trust despite being almost polar opposites. Their relationship is hard to define, but they're essentially an asexual couple.

Swiftstrike

His bonded dragon companion, who he rescued off a rock in the sea when Swiftstrike was a baby. They try to protect each other.

TRIVIA:

- His name can be interchangeably spelled as Larrus or Larus. He himself does not know the intended spelling.

- His ship (a small sailing vessel that he bought cheap after it was damaged by pirates) is called The Manta Ray. At certain points, he's lived on it.

- Barely literate. He can recognise and write common words, but was never taught to read as a child and his handwriting is terrible.

- Nobody knows why he has yellow eyes.
