BACKSTORY:

A young woman from Draconia, a medieval island country. After several adventures in her homeland, she decided to sail off in search of new places to explore, accompanied by her friends Larrus and Swiftstrike.

Unknowingly, the trio passed through a Time Portal on the ocean - an extremely rare magical anomaly that caused them to be sent forward 150 years. Now permanently separated from the people and home they once knew, they've had no choice but to make the most of their new life.

Astrid is a ray of sunshine whose presence seems to brighten the mood of everyone around her. She's endlessly (sometimes foolishly) optimistic, never wanting to believe that something can't be done to improve a situation. She makes friends easily and is always willing to invite new people into her life. It's difficult to bring her down for long, although she can become emotional if her loved ones get hurt or if she feels responsible for something going wrong. She also hates injustice.

Astrid has an insatiable curiosity. She always wants to learn more about the world and her friends - sometimes to the point of being intrusive. She might push someone to answer questions that they aren't ready to answer, though never with malicious intentions. She can also be reckless, often diving into things with minimal forethought and causing problems for herself (and others) as a result. Her ability to judge character is also flawed; she can easily be fooled by someone acting nice.

Overall, Astrid is a cheerful person who wants to make a positive difference to the world, but can be unintentionally selfish at times.

DESIGN:

Astrid is of short stature, with an average build and long, messy blonde hair. She has rounded features and bright blue eyes. Her favourite colour is turquoise, and she usually wears a tunic in this colour, though she also likes blue and green.

She carries a shortsword and a kitchen knife for self-defence. Because she is left-handed, these weapons are sheathed on her right side for easy access. She has a distinctive set of scars on her right hand from a canine bite.

ABILITIES:

Astrid has some experience in swordfighting and knife-throwing, but her skills are limited and she often relies on others to protect her.

She's a natural horse rider, a very good swimmer, and can play the piano. She also has a few medical skills, able to do things like stitch wounds and set broken bones.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Larrus

Her travelling companion. They have a strong bond of trust despite being almost polar opposites. Their relationship is hard to define, but they're essentially an asexual couple.

Swiftstrike

A cowardly dragon who's one of her best friends.

TRIVIA:

- As a child, she had more dragon friends than human ones. As an adult, she has a roughly equal number of both.

- Loves apple cider. Letting her get drunk is not recommended.

- Never swears; will only say "darn" occasionally.

- A bit of an advocate; she stands firm against anything she considers animal abuse or cruelty.
