DescriptionThe matriarch of the largely-deceased incinerators. Torch's hardiness has allowed her to outlive even her own time.
ACT ONE
Torch was first seen trying to communicate something to Ice, getting dismissed as he could not understand her. She later caught Blaze trying to carry water buckets for his crush, Tsunami, who was mysteriously absent. She had to help him, as he was not strong enough. As it turned out, he was covering for his friends' jobs while they were out to slay a dragon, and while on guard duty, he made a mistake that freed every prisoner in the Monarchy. Blaze went into hiding, so Asbestos held Torch hostage in the castle dungeon to draw him out.
To her surprise, Blaze (and Basalt) did arrive to free her. On the way out, they overheard Asbestos speaking of searching Ice's home, which Basalt was panicked by. Blaze offered to help protect the rebellion's research, and Torch went along because she was pissed at the guards for locking her up earlier. When they got there, Pearl had brought a bunch of rebels with her, leading to a major fight with the guards. The house burned down as Ice and the others returned, revealing the research, but when the monarchs arrived, the truth that Thorn and Tsunami were their missing kids made the fight come to a standstill.
ACT TWO
A meeting with the monarchs was held the next day, in which the recent events were explained, as well as how Thorn and Tsunami were kidnapped, including Torch's role in helping set them up with a house. Thorn suggested that the rebels be allowed to return home for the time being, which Cation agreed with. She supervised the clean-up of Thorn, Tsunami, and Ice's wrecked house, after which she finally managed to tell him that he was the spitting image of a missing researcher named Polar, who'd wrote the book he was always carrying around. Ice speculated he may be a relative of his, and showed everyone a machine he'd built using his blueprints, that read everyone's power levels. The levels were consistent with the theory in the books, but he was unsure of what Shade was, and decided he might find his answers in hell, a place Torch noted Polar had visited briefly.
Thorn and Tsunami were married off to merge the royal families. Torch attended the wedding out of support, seated next to her ex girlfriend. While this was happening, the Devil explained to Shade and Ice that Torch and Blaze’s ancestors were given Hellfire powers stolen from him for being ‘good,’ but never were built to control them like him and his descendants.
Some of the younger members of the rebellion went ahead to speak with the kings, which prompted Coquina to launch an early war. Torch fell asleep during the strategy argument, which ultimately settled on an non-unified approach. Torch brought a lot of destruction in the fight, searing anyone in her way, earning criticism from Pearl and Blaze. During the battle, Ice returned and immediately converted the town to a flying citadel, which the older cats realized was Polar’s design. Shade had also returned, but as the Devil, and used her power to capture the monarchs for the rebellion. Instead of Thorn and Tsunami taking leadership, they decided to transition the Citadel to a democracy.
Blaze married Basalt, and Torch welcomed him into their home. Or rather consoled him, as the place was in bad shape.
ACT THREE
Over the years, the Citadel was built up, as was the incinerators’ business. Basalt improved the ceremonious side of their funerals, and Icicle, Shade’s biological daughter, was adopted into the family, and made an apprentice under Blaze. Torch was very happy with the new baby, and having Pearl’s friendship again, but her age gradually took away much of her ability to see and speak. Pearl was killed in a goose attack, which deeply upset Torch. While getting her funeral up to standard, a large dragon attacked. Icicle managed to drop a few of its heads nearly atop her family. The dragon retreated, but was expected to return later.
Unable to fight or help in any way, Torch was stuck waiting for the others to get back. She could see an otherworldly glow despite her cataract, and perceived Pearl among a crowd of spirits that had risen to pull the dragon to Hell. The evening after, Icicle helped Torch to participate in Pearl’s funeral. She helped to cremate her along with the dragon heads they had accumulated. She continued to life in peace and mild annoyance.
