Profile


A roadside dealer, seller of trinkets and charms and peddler of miracles to the desperate. Reformed baddie, supposedly, or trying to reform anyway. Previously of Alcazar, still has friends there and sometimes they come down to visit or possibly just to check up on him. 

Younger brother of Helize, older brother of Lizon, estranged with both. Regrets this fact. 

His nephew is Thomas, who wouldn't leave well enough alone. As a result, they get along reasonably well.

POWERS

  • Animation - able to make things come to life; statues, drawings, pictures on cards, etc. Requires use of his own mana. Summoning something that's too powerful for him would strain him and he may not be able to command it
    • Embed - able to trap creatures/items/spells into cards/stone/clay etc, for later summoning. Has to immobilize them first, able to chain them with contracts so long as they are weaker than him. Also able to add to or modify their capabilities, to an extent. Requires far less mana to summon and command, since they have their own. Can also use blank cards as a personal hammerspace. Able to duplicate cards, but whatever is summoned from duplicates would be reliant on his mana for its continued existence
  • Spell Weave - general purpose magic for everyday use, eg. teleport, repair spells, minor healing, barrier, search spells, levitation, etc. Tends to rely quite a bit on his "card" spells, so his weave capabilities are far less compared to other mages of his rank
    • Hammerspace; Search & Retrieve - a special pocket spell designed to store and quickly retrieve his cards

 

WEAKNESSES

  • Physically on the high end of normal, but as a mage he's not expecting to get hit. His healing also isn't very efficient, so falls . . . pretty quickly if he does get hit. His magic resistance is super high though, and his clothes are shielded against most physical attacks as a regular precaution
  • A bit useless without anything to animate, and a crappy artist so pretty much can't make anything to animate. Might be able to manage some stickmen? 

 

EQUIPMENT

  • Cards
    • Trading Cards - a set of completely ordinary cards with pictures of monsters on them, from a variety of popular games. He likes to collect them! 
    • Personalized Cards - cards that he "made" himself! Comes in three categories; Monster, Item and Spell. Monster cards are usually copies of people who allowed him to collect their data because they wanted to see their card info, or creatures that he captured at some point or other. Item cards are, as stated, cards containing items (often sneakily stolen), while spell cards usually contain spells too large and complex for him to cast normally 
    • Playing Cards - also has an ordinary set of playing cards, each with a specific elemental effect attached for when he simply needs elemental magic. The elements correspond to the suits on the minor arcana, the numbers indicate the spell's power, and the face cards hold special effects
    • Colored Cards - green for go, yellow for slow, red for stop. And various other colors, but those can be a little unreliable in their effects

 

SKILLS

  • Magic Item Creation - unlike his brothers, he isn't as good at understanding the inner workings of magic and instead is better at putting it to practical use, usually in the form of spell cards that he makes to sell. Can also make magic items and equipment, but as that is more time consuming than cards he normally just takes those jobs on commission. Able to make functioning charms and talismans, but the ones he sells on the street are mostly just useless decorative junk
  • Fortune Telling - he has moderate talent in predicting the future, mostly through the use of tarot cards. Will sometimes sell fortunes on the street when he doesn't have any more charms to sell. Refuses to tell his own fortune because he'd rather not know what his future holds

 

COMBAT STYLE

  • Normally just gets his summons to fight for him, is basically almost entirely reliant upon them


NOTES

  • He was captured and brought back to Alcazar when he was 20, and spent some time incarcerated before becoming a reluctant soldier. Eventually he retired and left Alcazar to wander the world. That was about ten years ago, and he has been working as a street peddler since
    • Since getting arrested for the partial destruction of the city of Hartport, it was decided that he would once again serve out his sentence serving in the army
  • He still gets the occasional call from customers in Alcazar, whose work he takes because a customer is a customer and anyway they pay more than working on the street does 
  • Occasionally gives power to desperate people, just to see what they do with it. It hardly ever ends well
  • Has a season ticket for Lacusa's train caravans, where he sometimes stays at to sell charms
  • His mana pool is huge, since he needs it to power his animated creations. Doesn't really use it for much else, though
  • Hates Enrique for defeating his family, capturing him, and ruining his (admittedly already thoroughly ruined) life. And also for being nice to him at every single point after the fact. And for being perfect and likeable. And possibly for marrying his younger brother. El hates him with an extreme degree of unreasonableness, is all I'm saying
  • Is friends with Nerys, who absolutely isn't his therapist because he doesn't need one
