When looking at Valkin its easy to see a typical Pride warrior, beaming with pride and ready to defend its members with his own life. That description fits Valkin to a "T". He is incredibly loyal to the pride and the lions in his own life. He works hard to make sure everyone else around him is safe. Over the many hundreds of years he has seen nearly everything. Those years have also given Valkin very valuable information about their world. He isn't someone who will dance around the truth, he will be honest, and if something needs to be worked on he is more then willing to take the extra step and help and reach resolution. He wants to see other warriors become successful and have the best chance at survival when it comes time to fight. Valkin sees no reason to train someone who doesn't understand the gravity of war only to fall within the first few moment of battle. Do something properly or get out of his way. Even though he never had any other relatives other than his parents Valkin has always been a family man. In his mind you don't need to share the same blood in order to be family, it's all based on trust. His biggest soft spot or weakness has to be cubs, if you put one in front of Valkin you will lose his attention within seconds. He has always wanted some of his own, but because of the Vow he took its something he doesn't see happening within his life time.
Even though Valkin is on the older side he doesn't let that stop him from living his life. Yes he has made mistakes but those are the situations that he has learned from and become better because of it. Often he likes to use what he has learned over the years just to give a younger lion a better understanding about the real world around them.

Even though he doesn't have that many close family members or friends he is super protective of those he does have. Because its such a limited amount of lions hes able to take the time and keep track of the important people in his life. If it came to fighting Valkin would be willing to put his life on the line for them. Since family means so much to him the idea of just leaving them to fend for their own selves would be selfish of him. Family is something he would be willing to stand out of line for, which says a lot because he always stands on the more formal side of life. He knows his rank and where he stands in the pride. Valkin can be rather stubborn when it comes to things, a good example is when it comes to training other lions. He sticks to what he knows and will rarely venture far from that. It has his pros and cons when it comes to life. People often know what they are going to get with him, since there are some things that he hasn't changed for years. You can also see this because there are some views that he has but refuses to let go. The vow to his father is another great example of that.

With him being honest, it sometimes comes at a fault. He has problems with being a little too blunt with others, just saying whats on his mind. Occasionally Valkin will say things when he should have bit his tongue. It has become a problem that has gotten Valkin in trouble quite a bit when he was younger, hes learned how to control is better with age but sometimes he just cant help himself. Its really bad when he is focused on one thing and doesn't think twice about what he says. A good example of this is when hes dealing with difficult trainees or cubs. One of his biggest regrets he has with his life is the fact that he spent so much of his life living in his fathers shadows and not doing things for his own self. He gave up his chance at love because of the vow he took. So looking at some of the lions he grew up with find love and start their own family and yet here is alone and with no real family. What Valkin hasn't figured out is the fact that he is living as someone else. He stayed as the son but never grew up into a man. Everything about him is because of his father and what other people needed out of him. So Now Valkin has failed to create his own life.

Element - Thunder
Valkin only wields a single element, and that is the element of Thunder. He is one of the unlucky lions who have been gifted with the element Thunder but not its sister element Lightning. Even though he has lived a long life Valkin still have troubles stabilizing his own gift. He spent a lot of his young adult years looking for a companion who wielded lightning, but he was never lucky enough to find them. So now Valkin works hard to control the Thunder to make sure it wont go haywire.
Through his life Valkin has only lost control over his element once, and that was when he was a young adolescent lion. That was the first day that Valkin has ever began to fear what he could do and the fact that he wouldn't be able to do anything about it. He refuses to make it public that hes scared of his own element. He thinks that if this bit of knowledge becomes public other warriors might think less of him.
His all time biggest fear is the fact that he will finally lose control and hurt someone close to him.
Thunder:
Thunder Crack: He is able to make loud cracks of thunder, either in the distance or up close. These cracks are able to be used as a distraction, to disorient, or harm another lion during a fight. For him its actually easier for him to form the thunder close to him than it is for him to cast it off in the distance.
Sometimes when overly excited, and without control Valkin can accidentally summon cracks of thunder in the distance.
Thunder Step: The source of this power actually comes from her paws, hes able to concentrate on certain footsteps and create a sound so loud that it can force another lion backwards. Can cause permanent hearing lose to those to close. Takes a large amount of energy and concentration to perform.
Squall: The ability to create an explosion of thunder, causing damage. Though powerful this move is unpredictable, hard to control and does a lot of damage to any and all within the immediate proximity of the user. Large energy and concentration is required.
Valkin will rarely use this move, with how uncontrollable it already is Valkin is worried that if he uses to much he will actually lose all control. He will never use it if there is any ally lions near by or has a feeling that there might be one.
Rolling Storm: The ability to create various power sources of thunder, creating chaos on the battlefield thus making it impossible to move around or fight. Takes an enormous amount of energy so can only be held up for a short time.

Even though he does have his set moves Valkin will always be worried about using his own element unless there is a lightning lion somewhere near. He doesn't want to run the risk of one of his moves being cast somewhere he didn't want it to go.
Items
Valkin had three different items, his nose ring, beard and tail rings, and his arm brace. Each one of these items holds a special place in his heart for their own different reason. Each item reminds him of someone he held close in life that has now since left him. Sometimes he wonder if holding onto these items was the wise decision but the ideas that he something from each person he held close.
Nose Ring
When he was younger, Valkin decided that he wanted something that he could call his own. Soon after he aged into his adult form, him and a close cubhood friend thought that getting a nose ring would be something cool they both could get. So together and with no second thought they both got matching piercings. At first quite a few fellow pride mates thought them as a couple, seeing at they were always together and now had matching items. These rumours continued until his friend found himself a mate and ran off to the unknown lands to never be seen again. All these years later Valkin secretly holds his nose ring in a special place and it always helps him remember the good times he had with his best friend and maybe one day they would met again.
When his father got news about what his son had done he became furious, the idea that Valkin would mutilate his own body like that just for a look and as a act of rebellion. This nose ring was always the biggest problem they had with each other, it was a family argument that lasted for years. Valkin did his best to explain to his father why he wanted the piercing and why he refused to remove it, but his father never listend and he even tried to rip it out a few times. At some point, and Valkin never understood why, but his father finally kinda accepted that his son was going to have this on his face and he stopped bring it up.
Nearly a millennium later he still loved his nose ring and its something he will never get rid of.
Beard and Tail rings
The three rings that Valkin wears now used to belong to his father and have been passed down from generation to generation. These rings are all meant to be braided into a lions beard as it grew and kept there until the lion dies. Although with the final battle approaching Valkin saw his long beard as a safety risk and decided to cut it off, moving the extra rings over to his tail blade. He keeps one in his beard now simply because its one of the nicer looking of the three rings. He was tempted to have all three on his tail blades but thought it would be best if he just kept on in his beard.
This item is a family heirloom from the first born son of the family and Valkin will be the last family member to eve adorn these items.
Arm Brace
This was a gift from his mother. She was a metal crafted and often wore new pieces of jewelry or accessories. This particular item was one of his favourites hes seen his mother so when he was old enough he wanted to keep it for himself. It now serves as something for Valkin to remember his mother by, now that both his parents have passed away its just his items that he owns that are what left of them.

1-100
Valkin was born during the time of unrest, when the pride had no idea who was going to be the next wielder of the time element and their next alpha. He was lucky enough that he was too young at the time to remember much of that era, most of what he knows about this period are the stories that his parents and their friends told him over the years. He heard the tales of Arknon and his banishment and the death of their past alpha Aeon. Valkin often refuses the idea that these stories are what created his views and the ideas of whats important to him. He believes that hes come to each opinion on his own accord.
During his cubhood years Valkin was taught to be a warrior, just like his father and he relished knowing that he was going to be exactly like his dad. In his young eyes his father was his hero and idol, he aspired to be just like him when he was older and become a proper member of the pride. Besides training Valkin actually remembers very little about his younger years, over a millennium has passed since he was a cub and its slowly becoming foggy. There is one memory that Valkin has never forgotten, one that still effects him to this day. Right before his 100th birthday his father made him take a vow that would impact him for the rest of his life.

"The Vow"
The past few days seemed to have been passing with a blur, the time of his aging was coming near and Valkin couldn't wait till he was a full grown lion. Then he would be able to show his father his real potential and what he can offer the pride.
"Son I need you to make a promise for me, I want to know that you wont make the same mistake I did at your age." A strong voice cut through the silence and grabbed Valkins attention. Pausing from his pacing Valkin looked up at his dad and simply tilt his head to the side "Life isn't what it used to be, there are new forces out there that were not there when I was younger. Promise to me son that you will keep your head clear and wait until this war is over until you take a mate into your life. I made the best mistake of my life by meeting your mother but after that I was cursed with the stress of having to worry about something more than just myself. I don't want you living your life with the same stress I have now." Valkin didn't know what to say, so he simply looked at his father and nodded as his answer.

Neither one of these lions would realize how much they would regret this vow. At the time neither father or son thought the war would go on for much longer, Valkin didn't think that with this vow he would lose the chance of love and true happiness with another lion and his father never thought that he was forcing his son into all these years of heart break.Both father and son were blind to each other and possible outcomes of such vow.
100-600
The years after this event have became nothing but a huge blur for Valkin. Granted one of the reasons is because of how much time had passed since this era and because of certain memories or events that he wanted to forget. It was during those missing years that Valkin met the love of his life, lost his parents, and his best friend went missing.
He never planned on falling in love, he met this lioness out in the unknown lands while out on a morning run. Neither of them were paying attention to their surroundings and they ended up running into each other. Neither of them knew how to react about a random lion running into them, Valkin wanted to scold them for not paying attention but there was something about the lion that seemed to draw him in. Without even realizing it they spent hours there talking, getting to know one another and becoming close friends with each other. Over the next few months they continued to meet and it wasn't long until Valkin started to develop feelings towards her. It was this single time that Valkin wanted to go back on his oath with his father, but the idea of disappointing him didn't settle well for Valkin. He simply wanted to make him happy and it was that thought that lead to Valkin ending things with the lioness and never seeing her again.
Even now Valkin still thinks about her, whether she found herself a mate and has started her own family. Deep down he is happy that this is something he will most likely never learn. The idea that his one true first love found someone else makes him depressed. It was his biggest mistake in life.
This era of his life was also when his parents passed away, both from old age and walking into the lake. He sulked for weeks but quickly he came to terms about their deaths and knew it was all apart of growing up and getting old. Although it was his fathers death that hit him so much harder, his idol and hero was gone and now it was up to Valkin to guide his own path. To this day Valkin still misses both of his parents dearly.
Not long after his parents passed away his child hood best friend, the same one that got the matching nose rings with vanished without a second thought. He never thought it would hit him so hard, but he always believed it was the fact that he never said anything and he head no idea his friend even had a mate in the first place. Why would he want to keep something like that a secret from a friend? Was he ashamed of his mate or maybe he was ashamed of his own best friend? So when he just up and left that devastated young Valkin. After this happend it took him a while before he started to warm back up and letting people into his life. If his long time best friend could do something like that whats stopping another lion from doing the same thing?
All three events have became a great source of pain for Valkin and he has done his best to suppress these memories and this time of his life.

600-Present
The last couple hundred years have been rather uneventful for Valkin, his life was simple. The only good memory that Valkin holds dear is getting young Ezekiel as a trainee. He remembers that day all to well, he was nervous that he wouldn't be able to be a good teacher and would mess up his training and his future as a warrior. It turns out that this pairing was the best thing that could happen. Valkin learned so much about himself and about being a teacher and he learned quickly that when he retired from the front lines he would want to be a cub trainer if he was still alive when this civil war ended.
Valkin was with Ezekiel through thick and thin, he was the there during the death of the young lions family, mate and child. His rapid descent into depression. Valkin did everything he could to help the lion but he watched as he got more and more distant with the world and everyone else. he hated the fact that there was nothing he could really do to help him, he knew in the mind set that Ezekiel was in he wanted no help what so ever so the best thing Valkin was able to do was simply offer.
When he heard that Ezekiel was moving off Lochren and to the prison planet he had a little hope that maybe Ezekiel was finally healing from the tragic events but quickly he learned it was a way for him to get away from everyone and not have to deal with normal every day conversations.
As the years passed Valkin kept busy training, teaching, and keeping tabs on Ezekiel. After dealing with the stress of getting attached to his first trainee he really doesn't want to be assigned to one particular cub. He thought it would be best if he stuck to general cub training and just took on what ever cub was sent to him.
Present
The war was over, Arknon was dead and the pride came out victorious? Though at what cost? Ethereal unconscious, Aeros and his mate out there roaming free without having to pay for their crimes. Valkin had no idea how to take all of this new information and the fact that his friend and leader just let the son of Arknon leave. Different thoughts and questions began to rush through his head and he no longer knew what to do with himself.
He paused for a moment to take everything around him in, he thought about everything his parents told him about Arknon and the leader before Ethereal, and everything that has happened since. It was then he realized one key point, Valkin never once lived his life as his own... He became what other people wanted him to become or what he thought he should have been but failed to be true to who he really was. He was a lie. All these years he spent trying to be like his father, the years he spent on training to be the best warrior, the years of molding his views and believes to fit around what the pride wanted them to be. Not a single thing was his own.
Around him stood his friends and pride mates, each taking in the news differently. Some rushing up to their fallen leader some standing there in shock that all this has actually happened. But there stood Valkin, frozen because he realized this whole time hes been nothing but a pawn.

I felt safety when I was around my friends and fellow pride mates, but now looking back at the pride all I can do is question everything I thought was right.
A war that was started because of lies
A leader who I can no longer put all my faith in.
A belief that I've known since I was young and now its wrong.
The whole time I thought the defeat of the rebellion and their leader would bring happiness. Yet it has left me unsure of what the future will bring.
While the pride may have won, I came out of this fight with a loss.
LOYALTies and Views
Pride: Valkin has known nothing but the pride, for the past 1,200 years of his life he grew up and was molded around their ideas. He was nothing but a pride lion, through and through. It wasn't a blind following, he felt that the pride was in the right and the rebellion was filled with angry lions who had no real concrete reason to hate the Pride. It wasn't until the past few years and Valkin started learning real facts about what happened all those years ago.
What he recalled as just stories and tales by his parents and their friends were simply rumours and were of lions who fell into the trap of lies and falsehood. A single action by a past leader leading to all this death and loss. The actions of Ethereal and the supposed destruction of planet earth. Finally ending with a mass murderer getting away, without any action against them simply because they said they mean no harm? Mentally Valkin became confused with what he was meant to think, maybe after all these years his father and everyone else was wrong? It has gotten to the point were even now Valkin doesn't know which way is right and which way is wrong..and its why he decided that a break from the pride was the best thin for him right now.
In order to figure out what he should be thinking Valkin needed to learn more about himself.
Rebellion: For years Valkin saw his views towards the rebellion a knowledgeable view, he thought he knew why the two groups were fighting. Unknowing to him this whole time he did have a blind hatred towards the rebellion and was fueled simply because of what other lions said and did.
This doesn't mean he supports their actions, Valkin is still against arknon and his followers but now he has a proper understanding of why everything happened. He was still willing to fight rebel lions during the final battle.
Oasis: Valkin never really had the proper time to figure out how he truly felt about the Oasis, he had this mixed feeling of anger but at the same time relief knowing that there was another group out there that was willing to help the pride fight. The idea that they were there the whole time, watching this whole civil war and not doing anything bothered him greatly, why did it take them this many years to reach out and help? To think of all the lives they could have saved if they joined in sooner and together brought the fight to the Rebels?
Now that the war is over Valkin really doesnt see himself ever wandering towards the Oasis area or visiting them, he is still unsure about Mitus's intentions and honestly doesn't trust him or other high powered Oasis lion.

 Ethereal[ Leader/Friend ] These two grew up around the sane time. When his parents brought him to planet Lochren Valkin did his best to try befriend this new lion. They became good friends, not super close but friends none the less. Valkin watched as ethereal ascended to power and learned how to handle his new found element. Valkin will always have a deep rooted respect towards his leader and will always be loyal to him. From time to time he tends to mentally question some of decisions he has made. Stuff like that is always hard for him to deal with but none the less Ethereal was their leader and would know what’s best for the pride. Although recently he has become a little reserved about some of his actions. After the whole situation with earth Valkin has become worried about the mental state of his long time friend and he worried that if he’s not careful it’s not going to end well for Ethereal. But Valkin will do what he can to be there for him and offer him what ever services he might need from the older pride warrior.” |
 Ezekiel[ Apprentice/Close friend ] Ezekiel was Valkins first apprentice/trainee, and as time passed and he watched this young green cub age and grieve throughout his life. He almost views this lion as his own son in some ways. When they are together they hardly ever show outward signs about how much they care for each other. When Ezekiel was almost killed during the prison break out Valkin hurt for him and spent a lot of time with the male while he was rehabbing his injuries and getting ready to guard the prison once more.Valkin sees Ezekiel as a close friend and simply wants to see him succeed in life. Even though he was Ezekiels teacher the green lion had taught him so much over the years and he owes Ezekiel a lot. |
 Vex'ahlia[ Unknown ] Valkin had no idea that Ezekiel had a daughter, so imagine his surprise when he stumbles across a familiar looking lioness during the final battle. When they finally met during the battle Valkin refused to fight this lioness, he wanted answers and right at that point she was the best way of getting them. Sadly Vex didnt feel the same way and during their first encounter left him with a large scar across his face.Valkin still wants to reach out to her just to talk, he wants to hear her story. He had aked Ezekiel but he always refused to answer any questions. He wants to do his best to reach out and maybe pull Vex away from the life that she is in and to the pride to live with her father. |
