Arachne

The family Arachne was born into was a simple one. While his mother was Quirkless, his father had a Quirk that had not only passed through to him from his family, but luckily both his children inherited as well. While his father had never gone into the hero business, it was clear from a young age that Arachne and his elder sister wanted to take that path once their Quirks had shown sign of developments. While his sister’s had developed semi normally, with small features such as antennas, Arachne had terrified himself with his. Waking up one morning at age 5 with a another pair of eyes and arms.

The change of features had been sudden, quicker than most when the Quirk activates for the first time, growing in all within a week when, but not something the family had been surprised by. His sister, in fact, congratulated him upon seeing the new features, doing her best to cheer him up and support him. The two siblings were practically best friends as they grew up, being each other’s support and encouragement as they followed their paths to the dream of being pro heroes, both being accepted into UA one after the other.

His years at UA were nothing to scoff at. His determination to be a hero fueled him from the very first moment he stepped into the school. It didn’t take long for Arachne to take a spot at the top of the class, both in academics and the physicality the school and their teachers would throw at them. In his first year alone, he was one of the very few to gain their provisional licenses to become a hero, took second place in the UA Sports Festival, and had a few different pro heroes search him out to train alongside them for the short period of time after. Completely focused on his and his sister’s goal, he stayed dedicated to his work well into his third year. Despite being focused on his future, however, he had always tried to make time for the younger students of UA. He would often take on training others or helping them to study, knowing that it meant as much to them to get through school as it did for him.

However, despite the success he made his way through, he knew what people said about him around corners, behind closed doors, and behind his back. He worked hard, did well, but would often hear people speak of his looks. How terrifying he looked for someone trying to be a hero. Often times, there would be a joke that no one would want to be saved by something as scary looking as him, wanting an insect most people were horrified by to be the thing protecting them, and, many times, hearing other students compare his looks to that of a villain. For a short time, it discourage him, though he never let it show in his work, but of course with his sister’s support, he tried to work through it.

Then came his third year and everything changed for him.

His sister had passed just the year before him and he was well on his way to graduating himself. Just a few short months of graduating, a horrific event occurred. During a battle with a villain, working with the heroes that had taken her under their wing, his sister was attacked and killed instantly by the villain they were fighting. The death of his sister was devastating to him and his family, even more so as the villain had gotten away after murdering her. Her death caused a major rift and change in him. He began to act colder in class, not speaking to anyone, drifting away in his thoughts. His heart was broken at the loss of his best friend and sibling, the person who had encouraged him and pushed him to become the best he could be. The kind person who he couldn't believe someone would kill so coldly. But even more than that, his views of the world began to change. Of the Heroes and the way they did their “justice”, of the Villains and how they got away with everything they did because they would just be “captured” and taken care of in a cushy prison cell, seeing more and more how being a Pro Hero was nothing more than a popularity contest, about money, and no villain truly paid for what they did. For the people they hurt. For the people that died. The Heroes had promised the family that the Villain would be found, captured, and punished.

The Villain who killed his sister had gotten away, but Arachne would make sure he wouldn’t go unpunished for long. And not in the way the Heroes wanted to punish him. He would do it his way. A way that would bring true justice for what had been done to his sister.

Arachne disappeared from home and UA shortly after his sister’s funeral. He left everything he owned behind him, including his license, and discarding his UA uniform before taking to looking for the villain himself, which he eventually did. No one knows exactly what Arachne did to him that night, but the Villain's viciously lacerated corpse was found strung up in his webbing by the hero office that belonged to the heroes that had been in charge of his sister the next day. 

While there were attempts to apprehend Arachne after this event, none were successful, and Arachne continued on his streak of taking care of Villains himself. His view of the world had changed and he had decided that if the Heroes weren't going to do what was needed to actually take care of the problems of the Villains that caused such horrible chaos, he would do it himself, even as his status as a Hero was stripped from his name and the new label of Villain was placed upon him. Though, of course, he thinks of himself much more of a Vigilante, but Villain works too. After all, people do seem to pay attention to the actions of Villains pretty closely and with his actions towards the Heroes as well, he assumed that was only fair, and if that is what they wanted to consider him, he'd give them exactly what they wanted. Others had assumed that's what he would end up as anyways.  

The next few years, Arachne spent much of his time hunting down other Villains, making examples out of them after tormenting them. Their bodies strung up by the hero offices or police stations, calling cards of burnt homes of the Villains with their bodies inside, leaving a message and humiliating, mocking, antagonizing the Heroes who hadn't even been able to find them, let alone catch them, and showing what true Justice was, not what their society had deemed was justice.  He mocked the Heroes, being one step ahead and not worried about "fighting dirty" or playing fair. 

Over the years, he gained a following of others that wished to join him. Others with out of the ordinary Quirks, others who were labeled as to-be Villains before they got the chance to show themselves truly, some who had their Quirks and themselves abused over many years, and those that believed strongly in his cause. The first to come to him was Morphine, his now second in command, a young man with a power to numb pain that others took advantage of, and after him came Ventriloquy, a doll-like young woman whose Quirk others already labeled her as evil for having. With the two at his side, the group with the name that went through the media and people's lips like wild fire was born as more people joined along side him. The Irregulars, because none of them are regular, and that's just the way they like it. A group of Vigilante Villains taking to doling out the justice of the world in their own way, whether the Heroes liked it or not.
