Miraluna

Backstory
  There once was a woman named Lunella. She was raised in a home of callous, controlling parents, but overcame their attempts to shape her into something she didn't want to be, and married her childhood friend, Armerane. However, her brother, Korinja, was far more faithful to his family, and disapproved of her marriage. Thus, he plotted to have her and her husband punished, sending his tax collectors out while Armerane was busy, knowing that he was the one who paid them.

Lunella attempted to pay them herself, but they refused to accept it, opting to restrain her and wait for Armerane to return. When he did, he panicked, and made a move too sudden for the collectors' liking. The ensuing scuffle caused one of them to cut Lunella's throat, and the other to throw Armerane onto his own smithing kiln. She tried to reach him, to comfort him, but her body quickly failed her as she died from the blood loss.

Hours later, she awoke to the sight of a figure in a dark cloak, unable to really coordinate movement of her own power. The reaper, Sharr, had come for her. But not to spirit her away.
She was instead offered a new, ethereal body invisible to the living so that she may help them gather souls. She agreed, wanting hoping one of them would eventually be Armerane.
Things were calm within Olai for a while. Until to her horror, a sudden influx of panicked and distressed souls appeared in town square. She asked the conscious ones what was going on, but they all responded the same way: saying only one name.

"Armerane."

It is then that Sharr arrived, and after gathering the souls, they quickly led Lunella away from the site as she saw a spine-chilling blackness gather in the town square. They led her through a gateway and into the large temple just outside of Olai and into a chamber off the side of it, where she was met with a long, pregnant pause before she heard anything but her own thoughts. As the voices finally reached her, she realized what they were.

The gods themselves sought council with her.

They spoke with her, informing her of what had happened. Armerane,in his desperation for some form of companionship, gave into the beckoning of the accursed black mask he had found so long ago, and became the backseat driver to the new avatar of a long-forgotten god that sought to destroy the universe. It is thus, that they offered Lunella a decision not unlike what Sharr had offered her. A new body, suited to a greater task. One of a full god, with power and an expanded knowledge worthy of such a title.

For the sake of her husband, to put a stop to him and as a final hope redeem him, she accepted. And thus, as the gods decreed, Lunella was no more.

She was from then on known Miraluna, the Heartmender.
