Profile

Full Name: Juan Cervantes

AKA: Cervantes / Uncle Juan

Age: 35+ (Real age unknown, even to him)

Gender: Male

Species: Mightyena Gijinka

Cervantes is a mysterious character who not many know much about. He always carries himself with a sense of elegance, but is always seen lost in his own thoughts. He is quiet, reserved, and can be quite intimidating... That is, until you get to know him.

Cervantes was raised to be silent and intimidating, but he actually is a kind man with a big heart. He holds his family and friends close to his heart, specially since it's very hard for him to make any sort of bonds with other people. He remains collected and professional in front of those he doesn't know, but the whole thing can fall apart as soon as he sees someone dear to him.

---- Past:

(Content warning: Abuse, death, torture, and other sensitive topics such as murder, assassinations, etc.)

Cervantes was raised in an underground, illegal fighting ring. He was bred to be among the best, and trained since childhood to be an unstoppable guard and to neutralize targets. However, when Cervantes started to show signs of mental illness and disadvantages, he began to be treated as less by the others he was trained along side of. Only three people were ever good to him growing up: Barry, an Umbreon fighter, and their nurses Daniel and Sabrina. Cervantes grew up with Barry as his only family figure (despite no blood connection), and was the only one who ever stood up for him. His other team mates and siblings took out all their frustrations of living in such a hellhole on young Cervantes, and he suffered of much abuse in his childhood. Things got worse, however, when Barry was "disposed" of after their master felt he was no longer fit for battles.

Cervantes grew up alone after that, with only some visits to Daniel and Sabrina when he had to carry injured fighters to them. He was, however, not allowed to interact more than necessary with anyone, and this began to deteriorate his social skills.

It was when Cervantes turned 17 that he met Pietro. A fighter, finally joining the ring on the same level Cervantes was trained to mediate. He was a rare, alolan Meowth who seemed to be a young protégé for the biggest fighters they ever had. Cervantes, being tasked with first aid and mediation of battles, had a lot of time to spend around Pietro, and despite them not speaking the same language, they slowly grew to have a very special friendship. Soon, Pietro taught Cervantes the English language, and Cervantes taught Pietro how to read and write.

However, after a set of quite misfortune events, Daniel and Sabrina were killed during a raid. In this time, Cervantes and Pietro were found out to be disobeying orders of contact between everyone else and the fighters, and Pietro and Cervantes were punished. The punishment inflicted upon Cervantes, combined with the years of abuse he endured, were finally pushed to a limit, which left Cervantes afraid of communicating with others, and terrified of any kind of physical contact with others.

When Pietro found out about the punishment their master passed upon Cervantes, he decided enough was enough, and ignoring his own wounds, he fought his way out of the facility where they were held, found Cervantes, and the two fought their way to freedom, Cervantes barely making it out alive.

Once out on the surface, Pietro and Cervantes changed into a semi-permanent pokeform, and were found and nursed back to health by Erik Hawthorne, a Lopunny Gijinka who confused them for injured, wild pokemon. With neither of the two men having any kind of social skills or knowing anything about the outside world, they stayed in these forms out of fear, and had almost accepted living the rest of their lives as "feral" pokemon under Erik's ownership... However, one day, when Erik's home was invaded by robbers, the two transformed back into their humanoid forms to fight off the offenders and saved Erik's life. Surprised, but ever grateful, Erik decided to help the two settle into a more normal life, and helped them in obtaining a home.... However, they came to find out Erik actually had connections to several mafia bosses, and was involved in several rings under his late parents' name. Using some of those connections, Erik managed to find them jobs, but they sadly were not to last...

Pietro, having known nothing but battles to the death his whole life, ended up taking a job as an assassin. When Erik's connections found out just how good he was, they trained him to be stealthy, silent, and effective as an assassin whoever needed a job well done, and well hidden. Cervantes, on the other hand, was tasked with the disposal of the bodies. Soon enough, they were known and feared by those in the underground for their effectiveness and their completely unknown origins.

---- Background at time of RPs (More current events.)

In the present, Cervantes and Pietro have been married for a couple of years now. They had been deeply in love since a few months after they met, but marriage and relationships had been an alien concept to them where they were raised.

Upon a job gone wrong, Pietro and Cervantes found themselves dragged into trouble with a dangerous crime group and taking care of a young, now orphaned girl named Dahlia.

Before the problems between the two and the crime group could end, however, Pietro was kidnapped by two of the lower level grunts, but was rescued by Cervantes shortly after. To their misfortune, however, Cervantes was forced to kill one of the grunts to save his husband. This ignited a flame of revenge on the remaining one, Chad, who stalked them for weeks after, trying to find a way to get payback on them.

Once Chad found the opportunity to be alone with Cervantes, he abducted him, tortured him, and revealed the other grunt had been his brother, and he would avenge his death by killing Cervantes in return. A few days into this, and while Pietro and Erik looked frantically for him, Cervantes was rescued by Fuil, an absol who lived near the place Chad had taken Cervantes to enact his torturous revenge onto.

Fuil managed to not only saved the injured Cervantes, but she defeated Chad in battle, leaving him unconscious. Before any authorities could be notified, however, Cervantes decided to take him home instead, as he had managed to get a lot of information out of Chad during those days that was enough to show Cervantes that Chad had been raised the same as Pietro, under different circumstances, and was only a young man who just wanted to leave that life as much as they did theirs.

Upon many events, long talks, and many revealed secrets and truths in Chad's life, he found himself thinking of Cervantes as a fatherly figure, and the regret of having done the things he did to him weighted upon him greatly. To make up for what he had done, he decided to help Pietro and Cervantes in return. He helped them become more "normal" members of society, helping them find jobs they were both good at, and passionate about enough to learn and do for the rest of their lives.

It was here when Cervantes realized he had a talent and a passion for cooking and the preparation of food. His many years working in the disposal of "evidence" ended up helping him become a butcher, which he would a million times much more rather do than ever having to be involved with such heinous crimes ever again.

Cervantes now lives with his husband Pietro, his adopted daughter Dahlia, and Chad in a small, family home, and has finally left the life of crime behind for good, never wishing to ever look back.

---- Future story arcs (Also available for RPs, but under construction!)

Years after settling in on a much more normal, peaceful life, Cervantes is later to find out that his biological mother, who he was taken away from back in the fighting rings, has escaped as well, and had been living in a nursing home, alone, with no family members to look after her. When Cervantes went to meet her, and finally reunited with her, he found out that Barry was not only still alive, but he had been the one who had helped her escape. Barry had made a deal to keep his life, and was kept around only to pass down his genes of a highly powerful, bred to perfection killing machine to future fighters. Despite Barry fully accepting this deal, he could not live knowing he was the father to many more who would just suffer the same fate they all did, and the first chance he got, he left, taking Loretta (Cervantes' mother) with him.

Now that Cervantes is reunited with his family, he dedicates the rest of his life to looking after them, and making sure their haunting pasts don't destroy their new lives of freedom in the outside world.
