Personality

Stelian is a real Debbie Downer. He shows no care about himself or towards others, which shows by his sarcasm and his smart-aleck remarks. Optimism is something that he has no belief in, so it's easier to cope through situations that are more harmful to others. He'll claim to see disaster unfolding from miles away, going out of his way to list every worst possible outcome that can occur to prove the impossibility of things. He has no faith in a lot of people. It's easy to look at him at first glance for people to call him your stereotypical edgy boy. It's something that can't be helped. Pessimism is second nature to him.

Because of his unhealthy thinking habits, Stelian often looks like he's upset about something. Putting up with people that preach over things like hope already irritate him to no end, so he won't waste people's time telling them about his personal feelings if they can't fix them. Stelian allows negative thoughts to eat up his head and push him down to a point where it interferes with his daily life. There's always a small voice inside of Stelian that yearns to be the good person he once was, but his past reminds him of his personal incapabilites. They lead his focus astray. Stelian either fights to distract his mind on anything other than himself, or puts no effort into letting them keep him in bed. To outsiders, Stelian has difficulty concenrating on things that people normally can get done with minimal distractions.

Stelian holds cynical views with ideas that involve putting his trust in the hands on other people. There's a lingering feeling that the person he chooses to let into his life will backstab him in the near future. As much as these beliefs get in his head, Stelian doesn't like the feeling of being alone forever either. His communication skills are pretty shabby outside of his typical rude commentry. It also proves him difficult to show interest in the people he talks to, pushing him away out of annoyance. It'll take someone with enough patience to help break him out of his shell.

Trivia

  • Has an unusual quirk for making intricate crafts just to break them apart in the end.
  • Gets tense when touched without consent.
  • Plays piano as a hobby. He mostly plays classical pieces, but can learn to play modern music/songs upon request. If he feels like it.
  • Doesn't know how to respond properly to compliments. His attempts to compliment someone back end up coming off as left-handed.
  • It's unecessary for his species, but he rarely eats. He lost interest in enjoying food, having gone a couple hundred years since his last meal.
  • The Dark stardust harvested in his glass bottle pendant belonged to his mother.
  • Makes cigars out of Dark Stardust. He sells them on the sidelines for stardust. He keeps some for himself to smoke.
  • Suffers with clinical depression, ADHD, PTSD, and sleep apnea. He no longer takes his prescribed medications nor attends therapy sessions.
  • Has a bladed combat staff he uses for self-defense.
  • Is fond of dream catchers. While he is a pessimist, Stelian sees them as good luck charms to have.
  • Can be insensitive with his jokes sometimes. He's bound to make an existing joke darker than it should be.
  • Holds jealousy towards Light Starkeepers. He usually won't start anything in front of one, but it doesn't stop the urges to rip the wings off their backs.
  • Almond crescent cookies are a guilty pleasure he snacks on once in a blue moon, accompanied with unsweetened coffee.
  • Casual attire to him includes togas, hooded cloaks, and tunics. Heavily inspired by ancient Greek/Roman fashion and celestial aesthetics.
History

Stelian was a Light Starkeeper during his childhood. He worked alongside his cousin Izar to creating and retiring stars across the galaxy. Izar would create patterns of stars so when other Starkeepers hovered past them, they emit music. Stelian would tell him what song he wanted him to replicate and where the musical stars would be placed in the sky. Some of the patterns were made in a connect-the-dots kind of fashion so the stars would form animals or mythological creatures. At the end of their little projects, they would soar over their creations to listen to their orchestrated constellations. Izar brought Stelian to a world of music, and it even brought his parents to become interested as well. It was that time when Stelian started learning to play piano. He admired how the high-pitched keys made twinkling sounds like the stars did. Music didn’t rescue him from what happens years later. Light Starkeepers were being kidnapped by slave Rogues and taken to black holes to work and supply stardust for Darks. There were many rumors as to what the stardust would be used for, but none of the led to any good conclusions. Izar and Stelian’s mother were caught while he and his father were in hiding. He watched the Rogues chain them up and take them away. Izar was never to be seen again.

Years slowly passed. Stelian lost his glow with the absence of his cousin and his mother. He spent hours hovering over the musical constellations he and Izar spent several days crafting as children, listening to their melodies over and over again. His father served as his temporary partner for creating the stars, but Stelian started distancing himself from him. The constellations the two would make together weren’t the same. Instead, he would spend the majority of his time teaching himself how to play the piano. Classic music was a distraction that took him to another world in his mind. It made him relive good memories with his family and lash out his anger for not being able to protect Izar. No other Starkeeper he’s met has sympathized with him greater than the beautiful power of piano music.

After 300 years of endless warfare, surviving Lights started trickling back to their homes. Stelian watched as some reunited with their families. Others that were once Lights returned as gloomy Rogues, their skin at loss of color and eyes clouded with death. Days flew by, and there was no sign of his mother returning. He asked those he knew that were imprisoned about what happened to her. They just shook their heads and frowned. He and his father were losing purpose for their lives. The two would go back to tending stars when they gave up waiting. There was a day when they returned from their work that their town was eerily silent. Not a single blade of grass dared to move and there was no breeze to sweep the leaves away. The sun hid behind the clouds. It was as if their town was abandoned. Stelian and his father wandered back to their house. An instant blackness surrounds them as a force pushed them inside. They fell into a black hole summoned by Stelian's mother. She kidnapped them into her own little world along with other members of his family he recognized. The only difference was that they were all Rogues. They worked for her to harvest more stardust and avenge for their previous fallen leader.

He wasn’t holding up himself. Stelian's health continued to decline at a faster rate. He felt nauseous and numb everyday. He felt so weightless he couldn’t feel his wings sometimes, as if they’ve already fallen off his back. His eyes pulsed with a soring pain every time he blinked, but he couldn’t find himself to sleep for days. When more Lights joined the void, they helped Starkeepers like him stay alive by trading stardust and tending each other’s wounds when Stelian’s mother wasn’t around. It wasn't until another 57 years of playing this survival game that an army of Lights broke in and freed as many Starkeepers as they could and slay Stelian's mother. His father didn't get to join him. The day before was the last time he awoke to accompany his son. Stelian returned to their empty home and finally got a look at himself. His cloud white feathers had turned to an oily black, matching his hair. His tanned skin lost color, almost turning grey. He transformed into a Rogue, learning later that it was the result of being exposed to Dark Stardust for so long. With his purpose in life slipping away from his reach, Stelian spends the rest of his days to sleep, to heal, and to get himself back to playing piano.

Stelian harbors conflicting feelings even after confessing their love for each other. His romantic endeavors remain askew, but he does the best he could to make sure Deneb is safe, considering what she had to go through before moving in with him. He loves her regardless. Akuji | Past Friend

When Stelian and Izar took trips to Earth as a boy, he befriended Akuji after listening him play tunes on a wooden flute during ceremonies. It was from him that gave them one of their first experiences of loving music. Stelian hasn't seen him in years, not having gone to Earth since their last encounter.

Celestino | Past Neighbor

Stelian doesn't think much of Celestino, considering him as somewhat of a childhood friend before he and his father were captured. He has no idea Celestino is still around, nor the fact that he was not the Light he once was.
