Linwei Chen

Due to the anti-aging properties of Annies, where the average Annie lives to be over 100 years old, even as a 42 year old he appears as youthful as a 25 year old. He is quite good at cooking and became interested in all sorts of food since a very young age, though this changed due to his blessing from a carnivourous animal. Currently, he only eats meats and developed a carnivorous diet. After receiving the blessing from the viper at age 8, he grew sharper canines to help him bite and chew through food easier.

• Linwei has red eyes with narrow pupils, similar to a snake's.
• He has a very good sense of smell, though pretty poor vision. Though to make up for it, being a pit viper, his sense of thermal energy around him is extremely good.
• He typically does not carry his sword around with him unless he has a bad feeling, though enjoys carrying his fan around.
• Linwei is typically seen smiling around people he is more comfortable with, though will have a stern face around those he is unfamiliar with. This is because he believes it rude to show his sharp fangs too much, even if he is a naturally smiley person.

Linwei typically fluctuates a bit too much between worrying too little and too much. He can be very superstitious at times, where his house follows fengshui very exactly, though at other times he dismisses it completely. Really, he just lives life following his own chaotic impulses.

However, he means no harm towards others. Linwei is a very giving and patient person, and is willing to work hard to make the lives of others around him easier- But only if you tell him how he can help. Unwilling to admit it, he is a bit shy and does not like to talk to people out of the fear of bothering them unless he is prompted. As a result he can become very lonely sometimes, so when people do seek him out it makes him unordinarily happy.

Linwei was born into parents in poverty, whom didn't have much material things to give, but were kind and diligent in raising Linwei well. He had the privilege to be able to do practically anything he wanted with the full support of his parents, considering they were too poor to pay for his schooling. He began to practice cooking at a young age, and when his parents were off to work during the day he often busied himself with learning how to draw with sticks in the mud.

Though when he was 8 years old, while exploring the mountain behind his parents home, he was blessed by the spirit of a Chinese Pit Viper. It did not occur to him immediately, and several years passed before he started developing notable traits of Annies. By the time his parents realized that he had become an Annie, they were at first overjoyed, but quickly came to a saddening realization. Being in a town of other poor and desparate individuals, there had been a couple rare but notable cases where Annie children were kidnapped, then sold or traded as status symbols for the rich and prosperous. Linwei's parents, afraid to let him stay in their town any longer, regretfully packed up his things one night. The following morning, the Chen family had a long and emotional talk. Even though Linwei was only 12, he was to move to a town where there were other Annies like him. This way, he could be protected by others of his kind. At first, he refused, obviously distraught. Though after thinking it through, he understood his parents best intentions for him, and after the fear of being kidnapped settled in, he finally agreed.

His parents saw him off to the entrance of his new town, but did not see him past that. Afraid to have last minute regrets, after hugging his parents he went towards his new town without looking back at them. Perhaps, this is one of his greatest regrets.

Although his parents taught him well enough on how to cook and clean, he still struggled a bit adjusting to a lifestyle of his own. Although some other kind Annies would occasionally offer to help him, even as a child he felt too embarassed to accept their help, and would often work for much longer and harder to figure out how to do something himself rather than ask someone else. Though because he grew up in his adolescent years very much alone, he tends to think rather impulsively and without real guidance aside from old superstitions that he learned from his parents many years ago. Though among many habits, one habit or interest he never lost since he was a child was the interest in drawing. What started from mud and stick drawings eventually evolved into paper and ink drawings, which he enjoys busying himself with creating each day.

• He enjoys drinking tea very much, and will happily brew it for anyone who asks while staying with him.
• Linwei likes taking strolls in natural environments or gardens, since it reminds him of the mountainside forest behind his house from his childhood.
• Typically, he likes to paint mountains, trees, or animals.
• Linwei is a VERY gullible person, and will always assume people have good intentions at the bottom of their hearts for everyone, even if this is obviously false.
• His fan was a gift from his mother and his sword was a gift from his father which he received when he parted ways from them at age 12. His father taught him how to wield a sword since he was very young, to defend himself against wild boars in the mountain. He's retained this skill, even if it isn't often used.
• His estimated lifespan is about 115 years. Annies automatically have an average lifespan of around 100 years, plus their blessing's lifespan, and a Chinese pit viper's average lifespan is around 15 years.
• Linwei also grows some bonsai trees right outside his home, and talks to them when he is lonely.
