Aelris is the kind of person who would put himself out there for the sake of his curiosity. He's often reckless and impulsive, jumping into a situation out of pure gut feeling, and relies on his gut feeling rather than thinking analytically. He tends to be stoic to strangers, but to friends, he's pretty active in conversations. He sometimes says things without thinking first and can end up seeming insensitive to certain people. It's a bit hard to befriend him at first, but he values his friends very well.

Birth

Aelris was born of the Ko clan, alongside his twin sister. They were both given the name Ko'Vaal and Ko'Vara. They were an inseperable duo. The Ko clan has a legacy of being powerful warriors, so they both trained to be guardians of Sanctum, the inner circle of Terioto where high-end dragonkin live. The both of them helped the dragonkin fight against the Plaguens, who are evil creatures that seek to consume all life.

Photons and the Siblings' Aura

In the middle of Sanctum lies a humungous crystal called a "Photoner Crystal". These crystals are scattered around the planet and are used to create photons, which is an alternate source of energy, but also the only way to completely defeat a Plaguen. Without the use of photons, Plaguens will be able to reform within seconds, but killing a Plaguen with photons will cause their body to dissipate in the air. Dragonkin have been harvesting the seemingly infinite amount of photons from the Photoner Crystal for generations, ever since they created their kingdom of Terioto around it. The Ko clan has a strange connection to this crystal, as each generation always has a single offspring with an aura that can convert mana into photons. The Ko clan decided to create a legacy of warriors who uses their innate photon abilities to defend the kingdom against Plaguens. Ko'Vaal and Ko'Vara are a special case however, as this is the first time in history that two offsprings of the Ko clan in a single generation can create photons.

Inspiration for Etoile Edges

Ko'Vaal found out about one of his ancestors called Ko'Ciel. Ko'Ciel was a hero to dragonkin who slayed many foes and saved the dragonkin race many times. He was known for an unorthodox method of combat with the use of a greatsword that can break apart into smaller swords and blades that he juggles around the battlefield. Ko'Vaal was inspired by Ko'Ciel and decided to shape his aura similar to his greatsword. He spent many years training himself and his aura to be able to form multiple blades that can conjoint together. After being able to wield these blades properly in combat, Ko'Vaal decided to call this power "Etoile Edges".

Exiled Sister

One day, Ko'Vara discovered a hidden secret within Sanctum that the High clan, the most prestigious clan of all dragonkin, were responsible for. The High clan found out and exiled Ko'Vara away from Sanctum.

Deception

Ko'Vaal was upset about this as he had been told by the High clan to never talk to Ko'Vara ever again. He asked them why, but the clan had to come up with something to hide their secret. Their seer told him a lie, that within Ko'Vara's heart lie darkness. This darkness would consume her when given any form of power, so they had to exile her to make sure that darkness does not grow. Ko'Vaal was skeptical about this at first, but he had no choice as he had to follow his superiors.

Civil War

Ko'Vara rallied an army of dragonkin outside of Sanctum to storm the place, with the notion that they are a corrupt system that tends only to themselves and that they are holding a power that could be strong enough to kill anyone in their way. War broke out within Terioto. When Ko'Vaal found out about this, he was convinced that the "darkness" within Ko'Vara's heart exists. He now loathed his sister for succumbing to the darkness. He was assigned to guard the inner Sanctum, which is where the High dragonkin stayed.

Sibling Fight

While the civil war was happening, Ko'Vara was sneaking within Sanctum, hoping to find the High dragonkin tribe and end this war. Eventually, he found the path to inner Sanctum, but found Ko'Vaal guarding it. Ko'Vara tried to talk his own brother out of this, but he did not listen to her at all, fully convinced that the darkness has consumed her. They had no choice but to fight. Although Ko'Vaal was more skilled in head-on combat due to continued training in Sanctum, Ko'Vara learned some sneaky tricks during her exile. Their match was a stalemate, until...

"Vaal... I don't want to hurt you anymore..." Ko'Vara said to his brother.
"Good. Then that will make this all the more easier for me." Ko'Vaal replied.

Ko'Vara hesitated, refused to fight his own brother anymore, but this only gave Ko'Vaal the upper edge. Eventually, Ko'Vaal defeated his sister in combat and captured her.

End of the War

After the capture of Ko'Vara, knowing that their leader has been defeated, the rebel dragonkins stopped fighting and surrendered. Ko'Vara and all of her troops were sent to a prison. Ko'Vaal took some time from his guarding duties to think about all that had happened.

Contemplation

Ko'Vaal had a lot of time to himself to think about everything. A lot of thoughts were running through his head.

"Why did she start this war? What was she after?"
"If she was truly consumed by the darkness, why did she hesitate at the end?"
"What are the High dragonkin hiding?"

Ko'Vaal started regretting his actions. Maybe he could have done things differently. Maybe his sister wouldn't be in jail right now if he had just listened to what she had said. Maybe if he didn't blindly followed the High dragonkin's command...
He's not sure about anything anymore. He just wants answers that he knows he's not going to get.

Surfacing of Vasq

Ko'Vaal had always heard a strange voice in the back of his head. This voice would talk to him, but he always blocked it out and ignored it. After the war, he had no choice but to listen to the voice as it got too loud to just block out. This voice called itself "Vasq" and kept talking about how Ko'Vaal was too reckless, impulsive, and never thinks about his actions. She keeps talking about how she wants to keep this body "safe" and wants to take control of it, but of course Ko'Vaal does not want to give her control so easily. He wants to get rid of Vasq, but she tells him that "he needs her" and that "his powers come from her", which is something that Ko'Vaal does not believe. Until Ko'Vaal finds a way to get rid of Vasq or at least shut her up, he has to live with her constant bickering and try to block out her selfish suggestions of keeping their body safe.

Disappearance
Sometime after the end of the civil war, Ko'Vara disappeared from her prison with the only clue being a fight in her cell against a Plaguen, and ended with the Plaguen teleporting both itself and Ko'Vara away. When Ko'Vaal found out about this, he sought to look for her around Terioto, but found no clues of her anywhere. He refused to believe that his sister was gone, so he decided to search for her outside of Terioto. He knew he couldn't leave Terioto alone as he is one of the most skilled warriors, especially at defeating Plaguens, so he agreed that he would come back once in a while, or if there is an emergency.

Ko'Vaal gave himself the name Aelris and uses Ko'Vaal as a surname. He now explores the land, hoping to find his lost sister Ko'Vara to make amends with her.
