Our story begins on the rooftop of an old castle. After almost outrunning a gang of vampires, Lilje is cornered. It's either jumping down to a sure death, or finding out what the vampires want. And it turns out they want to feast on her and then recruit her to their vampire ranks, and so, they do.

A monster hunter, Vex, was spying on them and tries to intervene but gets cornered too. The vampires force him off the ledge of the castle and have him dangling. As he falls Lilje decides she has to help him and jumps after. She grabs him mid-air and manages to have him land in her arms as she lands on her feet unharmed. Neither of them properly understand what just happened and look at each other for a pause, but it doesn't take long before the vamps jump after them, making Lilje speed into the forest, still carrying the hunter in her arms, bridal style. :'-)

Lilje speeds them both to safety deep in the woods and manages to shake the other vamps off their scent. When Vex finally gets to set his feet to the ground again he does consider killing her, but decides to thank her instead. Things are pretty awkward between the two, as Vex doesn't really want to mingle with her kind. But Lilje manages to doe-eye him to agree to let her tag along for a bit.

"A bit" keeps getting prolonged as the two slowly get to know each other and help each other out. Lilje turns out to be a good asset as a monster hunter assistant. She doesn't love the concept of killing other creatures, so she usually just helps him locate the the prety and let him do the killing. She DOES however get more involved when vampires are on the kill quest, as she bears a grudge towards them for what they did to her and doesn't want them to turn more innocents.

As for her blood feeding needs, Lilje usually tries to stick to animals and humans who have already died, but sometimes manages to convince Vex to let her have a lil snack from him. Vex was at first very opposed to the idea of being fed on, but warms up to it the more he starts to enjoy her company. Their romantic relationship is very slow, as Vex doesn't like the concept of being in love with the same type of monster that he hunts, and Lilje feels unlovable for the same reason. But their relationship flowers in the end nonetheless.
