Cinnamon's Links
It's technically Maestro's job to take care of Nellie, but it's Cinnamon who ends up taking on the bulk of the work because of the man's laziness and her own loyalty towards the child. The only downside is that Nellie can be mischievous, and also fixed on Maestro to an annoying degree.
Nellie likes Cinnamon quite a bit and sees her as an elder-sister figure. Cinnamon is the only one who isn't a target of Nellie's jealousy, because of the child's attachment to her.
Vulpiné are considered animals or eligible as pets/dependents by most countries, so on paper, Maestro is her owner. This absolves her of any legal responsibility, at the expense of her dignity (among other things). The two get along well, often talking about revisiting Pasalt now that the war has ended, but never committing to it. Now that she's an adult, her fondness for him has started to develop into something more. She keeps her feelings hidden, worried that it could ruin their relationship.
Maestro has some idea of Cinnamon's feelings towards her, and makes a point to keep her at arm's length in that regard (though he hasn't just come out and said he's uninterested). He cares about her a lot, but even though they're both adults, he can't imagine them being in a romantic relationship.
