After Lego and Della's stepfather found out that Della nor Lego were his kids he kicked them out to live on the street. Even though Della is Lego's age she has the mentality of someone much younger, causing Lego to pull on the big brother role. This means protecting his baby sister no matter the cost, sometimes even getting into severe things and doing horrible things for her. If he doesnt have enough to eat thats fine with him as long is warm and fed and happy.

Lego is too over protective of Della which causes the two to get into a lot of arguments. Della just wants to have fun and since Lego cant make sure shes safe he worries. He knows shes better off without him but he cant help but worry.
