Marblestar was born as a kittypet with the name Marble to Peanut and Finchfall, with his sisters Iris, Nixi, Ruby, Amber, and Clover. When they were kits, Finchfall came to visit them. He told them all about his life in Emberclan, even offering for the kits to join. Peanut was very much against it, knowing more than her kits about the dangers of clan life. But Finchfall's description of the clan fascinated Marble, Amber, and Clover, and that night the three of them ran away to join Emberclan. When they reached the clan, Finchfall was surprised to see them, but immediately claimed them as his own kits. They became Marblekit, Amberkit, and Cloverkit. The next day Finchfall went to find Peanut and explained what happened. She was sad that three of her kits left, but knew she still needed to care for Iris, Nixi, and Ruby. Finchfall promised to keep them safe, and Peanut accepted her kits' decision.
When they became apprentices, Marblepaw was apprenticed to Greyflame. He was very close with his sisters and father, and occasionally would visit his mother at the Twolegplace. Marbleheart, Cloverblaze, and Ambersong soon earned their warrior names, both parents proud of them. Marbleheart was well-liked among his clanmates, being determined and kind, always looking for a fair solution.
One night at the Gathering, Leafclan and Emberclan were arguing over what to do with Dustclan's territory. The clan had crumbled, leaving a large, vacant territory between the two clans. Breezestar, Leafclan's leader, argued that since Leafclan had taken in the few Dustclan survivors, they should take all of the territory. Jaystar, Emberclan's leader, argued that since Dustclan had first split from Emberclan, and the territory they settled had been Emberclan's territory beforehand, that Emberclan should be able to reclaim all of the territory. The conflict spiraled until Batflank, one of the Dustclan survivors, attacked and killed Fennelpounce, Emberclan's deputy. Enraged, Jaystar declared war against Leafclan, with Tansyclan taking a neutral stance (common for the clan).
Jaystar appointed Marbleheart as the new deputy. The following war was bloody and violent, many cats dying on either side. Finchfall, Ambersong, and Cloverblaze were among the fallen. Marbleheart tried to talk with Jaystar, begging her to come to a truce with Breezestar, but she wouldn't listen. In one huge battle between the warring clans, Jaystar lost her final life, making Marbleheart the new leader of Emberclan. The first thing he did was call an end to the war, proposing that Leafclan and Emberclan split the territory 50/50. Breezestar, aging and tired of the fighting as well, agreed.
Marblestar saw his father and sisters at his nine lives ceremony. He appointed Flamedance as deputy, and became good friends with one of the clan's medicine cats, Hazelthorn. Marblestar also mentored Melodywisp, a former kittypet like him. Hazelthorn was called upon by Starclan to form a patrol, two cats of each clan (including representatives for Dustclan), and journey to find Sunclan, bringing the clan back to these territories. Hazelthorn and his group set off, and were able to find Sunclan, but Hazelthorn died on the way back. Marblestar willingly gave his portion of Dustclan's territory to Sunclan, as did Breezestar. He privately mourned for his friend upon learning of his death. Emberclan was not without a medicine cat though, Aspenstep having joined them during the Leafclan-Emberclan war.
Marblestar was a voice for peace amongst the clans. When Flamedance died, falling and hitting his head on a rock, Marblestar appointed Frostberry as the new deputy. Frostberry was confident, confrontational, a good complement to the thoughtful, peace-seeking Marblestar. He was not aware that Frostberry was training in the Dark Forest, albeit on inconsistent occasions, the Dark Forest warriors unable to drag her in deeper. When Willowbrook and her son Thymecreek showed up at the clan, Marblestar took one look at Thymecreek and knew he was Hazelthorn's son. Willowbrook and Thymecreek spoke with Marblestar and Frostberry privately. Amberstar, Tansyclan's leader, had exiled Willowbrook and her family. They went to Leafclan, where Willowbrook's daughter Chamomileskip had attacked Lichenpaw(flame), and revealed that he had killed her other brother Junipercry in a training session in the Dark Forest. She told Splashstar, Leafclan's leader (and one of the surviving Dustclan kits), about a few other cats she had seen in the Dark Forest, including Frostberry and Amberstar. Splashstar agreed that it seemed the Dark Forest was mounting an attack on the clans, and sent Chamomileskip to warn Sunclan, and Willowbrook and Thymecreek to warn Emberclan.
Frostberry was shocked to hear her name be mentioned by Willowbrook. She immediately volunteered to spy on the Dark Forest for Emberclan, dangerously gathering more intel about the upcoming attack. Marblestar agreed, and reassured her that she wouldn't lose her position as deputy. Once Frostberry and Thymecreek left the den, Marblestar asked Willowbrook if Hazelthorn was her kits' father. She only hesitated a moment before admitting. Marblestar thanked her for her honesty, and promised not to tell another soul. Willowbrook and Thymecreek could stay in Emberclan for as long as they needed. Marblestar then began assigning more battle training for all his warriors, keeping quiet of the upcoming battle, as he did not want to spread panic amongst the clan, and did not want to risk word getting to the Dark Forest warriors, potentially jeopardizing the lives of the clans' spies.
The night of the battle came, the moon soaked red with blood. Frostberry was able to give the clan warning before the Dark Forest's warriors tore into camp. A bloody, violent battle ensued. Thymecreek summoned Starclan to help in the fight, but Aspenstep was killed while defending him. Marblestar lost a life battling a Dark Forest she-cat named Dawnflight, but returned to continue fighting. He lost his last life fighting against Honeystep. The clans won the battle. When Starclan returned to their hunting grounds, Marblestar surprised Finchfall, Ambersong, and Cloverblaze by being there to greet them back from battle rather than the other way around. Marblestar also gave Froststar a life during her nine lives ceremony.
