The Static, the Void, & the BRB

[cw: depression & mental illness talk]

When your mind and body fail you,
When you've forgotten who you are,
When you've lost all hope...

Your Creativity will guide you Home.

Welcome to the British Revisionary Broadcasting.

The Overwhelming Noise

The Human Mind: Complex, Confusing, Unique. No two minds are ever the same, and each is experienced by only one person in its entire existence. But even then, the being in 'control' struggles to understand themselves; we search our entire lives for who we are, how we work, how to make it better. For this, every person has their own way, whether it be a systematic web, a palace of organized rooms...

Or an incomprehensible mess of Static.

That last one's mine. My mind is this expanse of deafening noise, overwhelming in every way. It's so hard to think here- it's hard to exist here; feelings refuse to actualize, memories do not visualize, and ideas are scrambled in transmission to reality. I've been lost in this Static for as long as I can remember, and although I've learnt to survive, I've grown so tired of the confusion.

And when you're tired?
That's when the Void comes for you.

Do not Listen To It

The Void is old, immortal, and it lives inside all of us. It is the consumer of all things good: happiness, hope, love, life. It is depression, it is anxiety, it can mimic your loved ones, can confirm you your deepest fears, can trick your mind into paranoia. It preys on the broken, and the weak-willed shall become its mouthpiece.

The Void is always following us, one step behind, whispering in our ears.

Please don't stop to listen to it.
Don't do what I did.

The Studio in the Static

Nothing exists in the Static, not for long...
yet, one day a studio appeared, and it stayed.

Here floats the British Revisionary Broadcasting. Once a fun set for an online persona, it quickly grew- beyond my every understanding- into an antennae to unscramble the Static of my broken mind. Manned by two Marionettes and a Rabbit, the BRB provides solace from the static, as well as temporary shielding from the Void. And since its arrival- slowly but surely- my life has begun to change for the better.

Ever-shifting, its 'physical' state is constantly in flux. My mind is anything but stable, you see, and so the BRB reflects that: every concept or idea I've had of its image, has at that point been how it looked. But still, I attempt to find the best way to visualize raw subconciousness, and the BRB fuels me to further explore art in a way I'd never considered. Recently it's been in a state of shapes, the 'idea' of a studio but no real form; something to reflect my Aphantasia.

There are a few consistencies in the studio, however: the Recording Studio, the Armchairs Behind the Curtain, the Control Room, and the Clocktower.
And the greyscale, of course. The only colour you'll find in the BRB, is from the television screens.~

Miss Kensington

[ One Half of a Whole ]

The first persona of Alistar, with a split of his more emotional personality. Not quite understanding emotion as a child, Alistar observed others and learnt how they tick, and from it formed a logical understanding of emotion. Miss Kensington is that kindness, the welcoming child that just wanted to make people smile and like her. But with it, she's also understanding of that darkness inside people; it makes her anxious, knowing what they're capable of, and what she might be doing wrong.

Miss Kensington is, at her core, a reminder that Alistar is a good person, despite what the Void may tell him. Society is not always right, but your gut, most of the time, is.

Mr Kensington

[ One Half of a Whole ]

The second persona of Alistar, with a split of his more broken personality. Having been consumed by the Void for years, Mr Kensington was finally pulled out when Alistar faced his gender-dysphoria. Since then, he's been settling back into the BRB, and allowing Alistar a better look at his less society-fueled qualities.

Mr Kensington is, at his core, a reminder that it's okay to be tired, and it's worth fighting to be a better person.

William Rabbit

[ The Studio Manager ]

A very important factor of Alistar's life, is his fiancé. His greatest love, William has looked out for and after him, through sickness and health. The Marionettes have their own William too, and he holds a similar role. They love and appreciate him dearly.
