BORN INTO THE WASHUU CLAN as a one-eyed ghoul during the Meiji period, Yuuta developed strong hatred against his own family early on in life. When it became apparent to them that Yuuta had an unusually powerful kakuja, he was used to supress the ghoul population for the majority of his childhood. He was branded as a taboo, often overlooked until it became beneficial to use his strength. Their hypocrisy ( as samurai, killing ghouls for profit ) was something he could not stand, so he turned against them in the yolk of his adulthood, leading a revolution of ghouls alongside him in the 24th Ward.

IT HAS BEEN CLAIMED THAT this battle led to the Japanese government granting authority to the Washuu Clan, creating the Commission of Counter Ghoul to crush the revolution. They also formed V, an organisation created solely for destroying the One-Eyed King. V were strong, and they chased the King and his revolution deep underground, like animals chased into hiding. There, the King and his fellow ghouls built a city, and Yuuta vowed to one day reclaim the Upperworld for the ghouls.

HIS REIGN IN THE UNDERGROUND WAS, at first, benevolent. Yuuta was in his prime, and was a great leader. He devised groups of the best hunters to bring flesh back from the Upperworld, and the city, albeit primitive, was functional. They remained sustained like this for a solid decade; Yuuta, however, did not. His strength could only be sustained by his kakuja, which in turn could only be sustained by ghoul flesh.
