Appearance Juniper’s ink color is a dusty blue, which transitions to a faded green at the tips. Her suction cups have an odd shape, resembling the ends of fully grown juniper berries. Her eyes are a soft yellow green, and her Caucasian skin has a yellowish undertone. She has aged gracefully, the hardships she had to face when she was young and the stress from them leaving their mark around her eyes the most. Her body is largely slender, some thickness only showing around her hips and thighs. For casual wear she can usually be seen donning the Mori Kei fashion style, and at work she wears her standard-issue SC High uniform.

Past Like most Octolings, she was born from a cutting from an anonymous donor and raised to be lethal. When she reached the age of 20 however, she was converted into an Instructor, teaching young octolings everything that she had been taught, and more. She was every ounce as cruel as her instructors were, as it was all she knew. When a child wasn’t performing well enough, they’d be scolded, abused, and sent off to menial labor, to slave away for ‘the greater good’.

However, even through her conditioning, the guilt of her actions started to weigh down on her. The grueling punishments she put her students through, their faces as they were dragged off to slavery. She had been through the same treatment as a child, but…maybe it could be different.

And when those thoughts took root in the debts of her mind, they slowly grew into thoughts of leaving, escaping to a better place. Somewhere where she wouldn’t have to enact these heinous acts, and where the children would be freed from her cruelty. She had to leave. She had to escape to Inkopolis.

She forged a plan, and made her escape, having to climb out of Octo Valley as the Metro didn’t exist yet. Upon reaching the surface she saw the beauty of nature for the first time, and fell in love with it. The first plant she encountered was a bush of Juniper berries, which she would later learn the name of and adopt as her new name and identity.

She soon found an abandoned little cottage at the edge of an old industrial area, which time had long forgotten. She decided to make her home there, fixing up the cottage with whatever scrap she could find from the old industry around her. She also cleared some room around her cottage, creating space for a garden that she’d wanted to start since arriving to the surface.

As the years go by she learns from the inklings, adopting their kindness and allowing her walls and conditioning to fade away. She allowed herself to be around people more, and loved to frequent the library and learn all she could about farming, plant care, and even some other hobbies that piqued her interest.

Present Currently she’s known as the little plant lady, still living in her cottage which is now surrounded by a beautiful garden. She is happy in her life, enjoying the company of her plants. Everything seemed perfect, yet… something was still nagging at the back of her mind. The guilt of her past treatment of others, of children especially, still ate away at her. She wished she could have a do-over, a chance at a clean slate to prove herself wrong. That she wasn’t a monster.

And it seemed that this chance finally arrived, in the form of a job opportunity as a teacher at SC High.

• ● Sadly cannot have children due to torture and testing she endured in Octo Valley.
