Arthur

Arthur lives a simple life with Hope in their small village, until one day he is conscripted for the war effort as a messenger. While attempting to deliver a message enemy soldiers stab him through the chest. A spirit that calls itself Ash prevents him from dying by using itself to bind his soul back to his body. Until they find a way to resurrect him completely, he doesn’t want to see Hope. He worries that it would give her false hope in case he does end up dying anyway. When Ash switches with Arthur Hope can’t tell that it’s the same person, so Arthur has Ash interact with her and watch over her but tells him not to tell her about him.
