Profile
A free-spirited and boisterous mercenary from the small village of Misteria. The type of man that enjoys hard work and doesn't take much things in life too seriously. He may appear intimidating but he is friendly and positive when approached. His dream is to freely travel the world and experience all the wonders of life and thanks to a certain elf girl, he's currently fulfilling it. Despite being fairly free spirited, money seems to be something that often stress him out.

- He's a widower... with a 15 year old daughter. He's left his daughter in a trusted friend's care while he work. He sends letters and money when he can. He's considering bringing his daughter to Estalucia to attend magic school.
personality
Miles perfectly fits in the mold of the typical mercenary archetype — a person that gets the job done and moves on with his life after getting his reward. He despise being tied down and staying in one place for too long and enjoys living his life freely. He believes life gets too dull when things stay stagnant for long periods of time. In a crowd, it's fairly easy to spot a guy as rowdy as Miles is. Not only is he built like a large boulder, he speaks loudly and is often found chatting with anyone that cares to entertain him.
He is very friendly with those that approach him with curiosity and good intentions. Even going out of his way to support those who seek his guidance with a gentle, yet firm demeanor. Despite his free-spirited personality which gives him the impression of not having a care in the world, Miles is responsible and sharp-witted. Besides his talent in swordsmanship, it's how he survives his line of work. He may not look like it but he takes great care of his belongings and is often anxious about his finances. It's one of the things that often plague his mind due to his humble upbringing.

story
Excerpt from Yuniko’s journal
Orphaned at a young age, Miles can neither remember nor care about his birth parents. He simply believed they felt the same about him and have long since made peace with that fact. Unlike most orphaned children, he was lucky to have found a home in the small village of Misteria. A village located on the outskirts of Solaria City surrounded by wheat fields — where the weather is always just right. Adopted by an elderly couple, he was allowed a healthy and happy childhood.
Much of his days were spent helping around the farm and being trained by the local soldiers. Swordsmanship has always been a fixation for Miles. He enjoyed the thrill of swinging a large sword around. Perhaps childish, but his love for swordplay doesn’t seem to have waned as he grew to be the fine gentleman he is now. Though, “fine” might not be the exact term — perhaps, a shrewd old man is a more fitting description.
He doesn’t consider himself the best swordsman in the sky realm by any means (maybe he does now that I think about it…) but he is talented nonetheless. A large frame, an obnoxious voice that bellows the loudest of laughs, and rough hands that carves the smallest of figures with most delicate little details; he's endearing to say the least.
If there is one thing Miles concern himself with though, is finances. Perhaps due to his humble upbringing but money seems to be a concern. He isn’t obnoxious about it by any means but rather responsible about his spendings. Too responsible. It bothers him especially when I [Yuni] spend our budget recklessly but seeing him flustered once in a while isn’t a bad thing.
Miles claims the scar across his face is a battle scar, something to remember a well fought battle by but he’s not a very good liar. It’s obvious it brings back painful memories he’d rather not discuss at this point in time. Even a man as free-spirited as him carry a heavy burden.
Miles is currently accompanying Yuniko as her sole travel companion. He serves as her protector and a friend to keep her company. To keep her grounded in reality and remind her to come back home as time is a concept she can never fully grasp. In terms of a job, it's a dream come true. To be able to get paid and travel the world at the same time is everything Miles could've ever asked for. Unfortunately, some things are just too good to be true and his partner is more than a handful. The amount of reckless curiosity that gets them in trouble may have aged him by a decade by now.
