Laurence Gladia of Floria
Summary:
Laurence Gladia is the eldest and coldest of the Gladia brothers, leading Floria's Navy in it's golden years. His brother has no trouble convincing him that Floria deserves better than the butt of every jibe; Laurence holds FoxCavern's ports captive while his brothers claim the Palace and city. He strongly disagreed with his brother over the killings of Rune's Lords and Ladies, the bruning of Roseville, and the war that resulted. He believed that, had the Lords and Ladies been made to see the greif Floria suffered under it's previous Lords, they would allow Floria the high ground. However, the chance was long gone into bloody war by the time Laurence learned of the first executions, and he held FoxCavern's inlet against Asters navy nonetheless. While Hessule and Aster ships attacked his navy higher north and west of FoxCavern, it was a pirate ship that sunk Laurnce Gladia's flagship. Docked in Kembrig at the time of FoxCavern's downfall, Gordon FLay writ back and forth with his half-brother, eventually nearly breeching his ship to challenge the Florian Galleon. Laurence killed Pearl Claymore, and it is said he fell to Gordon Flay, though Flay would tell you a different story. Laurence was the second of the Gladia brothers to fall from grace, abandoning his younger brother to die mad upon the steps of FoxCavern's Palace.
"I tell you, there were too many of us who wished they'd won. If only so we could be better. Not even a fool fighting for Floria could've denied that we was ne'er at our best until those boys came 'round. I doubt I'll live to see a more golden day."
