BACKGROUND:

KITHOOD:

Fadedkit was born into a litter of one. Mistwind and Gentlepetal, two sweet-hearted and well-loved cats, were delighted to have them. They'd been mates for quite some time and this was the next step in their journey. Fae had a very normal and happy childhood, full of memories that would last for a lifetime- memories that would never fade. As both Mistwind and Gentlepetal were nonbinary, they referred to Fadedkit by multiple pronouns, so that the kitten would be able to explore their identity on their own. It was a much more comfortable suiting identification for faer, as feminine connotations didn’t feel entirely right. Even at a young age, fae had felt discomfort at being called purely female. She felt as if she might be something more and that's when she chose to also use the pronouns "fae" and "faer." One day her parents took a walk into the territory... A walk from which they would never return. The rainy season had caused a great shift in the earth, which resulted in a mudslide. When Fadedpaw heard the distant rumbling of the earth, fae felt deep in faer gut that something was wrong... Faer mothers had been caught in the mudslide... and did not survive. She was taken under the wing of a kitbearer and had also caught the attention of Paleshine, a clan elder. Paleshine was quite motherly towards her, which caused her own self-proclaimed adoptive grand-daughter (Mudkit) to become quite jealous. It was an appetite for a lot of animosity... She was only a couple moons old when Rimescale, Abatrosswing, and Sootflame foudn Weaselwhisker ensnared by a fox trap and partially ubmerged in the river. The body was recovered, but Fadedkit was barred from seeing it... and for good reason.

- RP START -

Tensions with outsiders began to rise more and more due to prey availability. Issues with twolegs also ramped up, with Weaselwhisker being found caught in a snare in the river. Tensions also rose between the clans, with a skirmish between Thunderclan and Windclan breaking out over a hare. Fadedkit was old enough by now to understand some of the semantics, but fae hardly paid it any mind. Not faer clan, not faer problem.

APPRENTICESHIP:

Fadedkit became Fadedpaw at 6 moons old and was given to Rimescale. She was wary, as always. By now she had accepted the fate of faer mothers… and her bitterness had shifted from living cats to her starry ancestors. She remained uncertain of Rimescale, wary to give her heart away to anyone else, and too proud to admit said fear. A few moons later Thunderclan's medicine cats demonstrated how to disable fox traps after one of their own had gotten caught in one. Around this time Hawkstar also lost a life to deathberries. Sagesplash and Silkyflower had both seen the herbs that Freckleshimmer had given to him. It was thought that she had intentionally poisoned him and a trial was held while he was still unconscious and recovering. When Hawkstar awoke, he upheld the decision that Sagesplash had made- to banish Freckleshimmer. Silkyflower, as a result, went to Starclan to become a full medicine cat. Fadedpaw was completely mind-boggled by these developments. Fae had never expected that Freckleshimmer was capable of such a thing... and it made faer even more nervous about trusting others among the clan. Two moons later and the truth came out. Twilightdancer revealed that it had been Vixenshadow who had poisoned Hawkstar and framed Freckleshimmer. She had long been terrorizing Twilightdancer and her family, though it remained well under wraps. Freckleshimmer, having received an omen from her father, raced to join the confrontation. In the end, Vixenshadow was apprehended nd confessed. She was executed by Hawkstar and Sagesplash in the caverns as a result, with Bogbones, Dewdropmoon, and Reedtide bearing witness. Fadedsong was still unease that so much had been kept under wraps for so long, but fae felt that fae could breathe a little easier now that it was over.

WARRIORHOOD:

Upon reaching twelve moons of age, Fadedpaw graduated and became Fadedsong, for her gentle voice. Twolegs had started to cause a problem and this problem only escalated with time, many cats going missing only a moon after Fadedsong became a warrior. Predator sightings and outsider infringement became more and more common. Fadedsong faerself would discover this the hard way. Fae stumbled across a rogue in Riverclan territory. A fight ensued- a fight that fae ultimately lost. Fae gained scars upon faer face, shoulders, and a seed of distrust towards outsiders was planted in faer heart. So, it came as no surprise that fae didn't trust some members of faer clan. One of those members was Lilybreeze, was had outsider blood. However, this created a bunch of mixed emotions in Fadedsong- for fae also found faerself physically attracted to the beautiful dame. Distrust and attraction... it couldn't go any more wrong, could it? Fadedsong kept a close eye on the former outsider- out of distrust only, fae told faerself. A couple moons after Fadedsong became a warrior, more cats went missing, seemingly taken by twolegs. All but one cat would be returned, a moon later altered. They would also bear a message from the kittypet Petroleum, claiming that they would soon face a horrible threat. Just before the taken cats' return, the warrior code was amended, and medicine cats were allowed to have mates and kits of their own. Fadedsong felt uncertain regarding this, being a staunch believer in the code. What would these medicine cats do if forced to choose between their families and cats who needed attention more?

Shortly after the amendment to the code, Twilightdancer and a Riverclan patrol found Hydrangeawhisper - Thunderclan's medicine cat - was found on Riverclan territory, badly wounded by a rogue attack. He would be allowed to remain in Riverclan until he eventually healed with Thunderclan assured that he was okay. Eventually he would be returned home, a moon after his arrival. A couple moons later the clans banded together, discussing Petroleum's proposition to band together with outsiders and get rid of one of the twoleg monster sites. Begrudgingly, the clans agreed. Fadedsong was far from pleased about the decision to make an alliance, though it worked out in the long run. A moon later and the plan was put into action. Lives would be lost, but the monster would be disposed of. It wasn't over though. Only a moon after the monster was dismantled, a kittypet attacked Hawkstrike and Mintcloud on patrol, something quite unusual. Fadedsong figured that it must be because the twolegs were getting closer to their territory- so their pets had begun to trespass. Faer theory was supported a moon later by a Shadowclan and Thunderclan patrol's discovery of a new twoleg settlement nearby. Tragedy would rear its ugly head just shortly after. A life would also be lost- though not to the twolegs this time. The life belonged to Hawkstar and it was his last. The tom died from old age, leaving Sagesplash to step up in his stead. Cloudyrose was chosen as her deputy. It was strange, not having the old tom around- the figurehead of Riverclan. Fadedsong felt confident that Sagestar knew what she was doing, however. The young warrior was immensely pleased when fae was given faer first apprentice- young Sorrelpaw. The young cat showed promise and Fadedsong was thrilled to be her mentor.

Sagestar's leadership was tried only a couple moons after she became leader, as she confronted Somberspark for attempting to torture and kill a rogue. A fight broke out between the two and resulted in Somberspark being killed. In the end, his body was simply left for crowfood- a choice his family had made. Two moons later at a gathering, the kittypet Dixie made her appearance. She wished to have Blackstag, a Shadowclan elder, so that she could prosecute him for war crimes. Naturally, the clans refused. Fadedsong thought little of the elder, but she did find it ridiculous that a kittypet be making any sort of demands. Unfortunately, these threats weren't to be taken likely. A moon later and Roman, Dixie's mate who had control over dogs, attacked the elderly Paleshine and her family members while they were out in the territory. Paleshine would later die of her wounds. Fadedsong had not allowed herself to get particularly close to the old dame, but her loss still stung. A moon later and Galesigh would be tortured by the kittypets before being allowed to return home. This was infuriating to Fadedsong. Those bastards were toying with them weren't they!? W

A moon later, when Duskwind and Twilightdancer requested to leave Riverclan and join Thunderclan, the clan of their father, Fadedsog was outraged by their blatant betrayal. How DARE they be so disloyal? She backed Sagestar's decision completely. Sorrelpaw soon graduated, becoming Sorrelstrike- a warrior that Fadedsong was proud of. Fae didn't have much time to dwell on faer pride though. Not long later Dixie and Roman, with the help of their kittypet gang, rolled a monster down into the gatheringplace. It was then that Fadedsong became even more torn about Lilybreeze. Fae and the pale dame had a few interactions before, all tense and full of passive aggression... but this time it was different. Lilybreeze was wounded, saving Ibisstrike - a young cat that Fadedsong had become quite fond of. She'd put her life down on the line for a cat she didn't know- but a cat that was a clanmate. Fadedsong couldn't help but respect that... and fae became more and more confused about faer own feelings towards the beautiful dame. There wasn't much time to dwell on her confusing feelings though. A few moons later, dogs were unleashed onto the clans by the kittypets. Fadedsong managed to avoid significant injury, but many of the clan weren't so lucky and some were even killed. Lilykit and Lotuskit were among them, given the names Lilyshade and Lotuscloud posthumously.

It seemed that kittypets wouldn't be the only threats though. Peace reigned for only five moons before trouble arose within the heart of the clans in the form of rebels, who believed that the current leadership were weak in the face of the kittypet threat. Windclan and Shadowclan camps were taken siege and rebels of all four clans took station there. One of those cats was Ibisstrike, which Fadedsong took hard. In many ways, fae wished that fae had been able to guide her more. Riverclan sheltered the Windclan loyalists. Fadedsong's nerves were constantly on end with so many strangers in camp, so fae spent even more of faer time alone or with Lilybreeze, who fae was continuing to trust more and more. A couple moons after the rebellion began, Windclan refugee Aphidflight revealed that he was the father of Mallowbrook's litter. The Riverclan she-cat was stripped of her name by her own mother, Sagestar, and forced to live as an outsider for six moons. Fadedsong had no compassion for her during this moment. She'd broken the code and been punished accordingly. About a moon later, Silkyflower took Creekpaw as their apprentice. Then Icestep, a former Windclan rebel, had killed a Windclan cat in order to save his mate. He was allowed to stay in Riverclan... a decision that Fadedsong couldn't understand why Sagestar had made. Fae didn't argue and respect the decision, but fae found it a foolish move to allow a former rebel into Riverclan camp. Two moons after Icestep's impromptu arrival, the fight to reclaim Windclan's camp came. Fadedsong participated in the battle, helping Riverclan reclaim their home. In the end, balance was restored as the rebels were either killed or exiled. Begonialeaf, Weaselface, Shrikeclaw, Pythonsmirk, Frostmoon, and Oakstar were all killed. There had been other traitors throughout the clans, it seemed. Snapdragonfrost, Moorstripe, Flurryfreeze, Leopardshine, Lambpetal, and Infernostorm were taken alive to be later tried by Flamestar. In Riverclan, Cricketcoo, Ibisstrike, and Mushroomshade's lives were spared but they were exiled. Fadedsong was secretly and biasedly a bit relieved when Ibisstrike was exiled under the terms that she could return again in the future to be retrained. Thunderclan and Shadowclan soon retaliated as well, taking back Thunderclan. Starlingstar, Rookstone, Roandune, Aldersnap, Alligatorgrin, Swiftbound, Barkhowl, Firfrost, and Goldenheart were executed. Constellationwatcher, who had supposedly been more of a passive observer, was exiled. Kits and apprentices who had been hostages were able to rank up and cats began to take on specialized ranks once more. The clans' rightful order had been restored, though the threat of the kittypets still loomed over them.

Fadedsong wasn't particularly suprised or moved when Shinepaw chose to join Windclan with his father, Aphidflight. If his heart wasn't in Riverclan, Riverclan didn't need him anyways. Fae had once judged Twilightdancer and Duskwind harshly for their decision to leave, but had matured greatly by now. If a warrior was not loyal to their clan, they did not need to remain here. The matter of Sagestar sending runners to all clans a moon after the rebellion ended, however, had Fadedsong very interested. Fae never tried to pry, though fae looked forward to hearing what the cause of such urgency could have been. One rebel, Sand, showed her face again moons later. She barged in on the mateship ceremony of Minkdancer and Bristleflame. It was Killdeerpaw that threw her over the edge of the gorge, killing her. Fadedsong's heart went out to the young cat. Even if Sand had deserved it... he had killed his own mother. Around this time Cloudyrose temporarily stepped down due to pregnancy, leaving Dawnshimmer to step up in her place until they became apprentices. At the first gathering since the rebellion, the message that Sagestar had sent out moons earlier was revealed. The leaders had received a prophecy from Hawkstar that some cats must be chosen to go on a journey. Sagestar chose Cindermask, Mistyshore, and Lilybreeze. Lilybreeze. Lilybreeze. Fadedsong was terrified that Lilybreeze of all cats had been chosen to go on the journey. What if, like Fadedsong's mothers, the beautiful she-cat never came back? Fadedsong expressed, in faer own way, how afraid fae was of losing Lilybreeze... and the silver dame assured her that she would return. Fadedsong more or less withdrew into herself, feeling unreasonably alone in the clan without Lilybreeze there.

It came as a surprise when Dixie's body was found on Shadowclan terriotry, with kits nestled at her side. It seemed she'd died giving birth. Her kittens were taken in, eventually coming to live in Windclan. Fadedsong was wary to have rebel blood upon the clans all the more, but reminded herself that heritage wasn't everything. Lilybreeze had come from outsider blood, after all... and she had since become the cat that Fadedsong trusted above all others. At the next gathering, a few moons after they had departed, the journeying cats returned with news. They informed all the clans of the fifth clan, who had left when the original leaders of the other clans had ordered the eradication of the loners who had been there. It seemed that Dixie was a descendant of those cats... Fadedsong had sympathy for the loners and Skyclan of old, but none for Dixie. The current clan cats had not been a part of that, and Dixie never should have chosen such violence. The journeying cats also reported the finding of the beach- a new place for the clan cats to go. Fadedsong wasn't particularly fond of swimming in the ocean, though the warm sand was a joy. Fae was just glad that Lilybreeze was back though, unharmed and at faer side once more. A moon after the journeying cats returned, the temporarily exiled warriors were allowed to return to Riverclan and became apprentices once more, trained once more in the way of the warrior code. They would eventually receive their full names, though they would never be allowed to take on specialized ranks or hold any power during Sagestar's reign. Fadedsong found faer feelings mixed. Fae didn't want them here, but... it wasn't faer decision to make in the long run.

Fadedsong was given a second apprentice, young Slatepaw. Soon, the last traces of the rebellion disappeared as the remainder of the apprentices whose training had been delayed or interrupted ranked up. Cloudyrose returned to her duties as Riverclan's deputy a few moons later. Slatepaw also graduated, becoming Slatestorm. Life was normal for only a couple more moons before Silkyflower disappeared. Lostheart, the punish-named Mallowbrook, would come to find the medicine cat's body and bury it by the riverbank, for the remains were not fit to be seen by the clan. Creekpaw became Creekhollow, Riverclan's sole medicine cat. Fadedsong hadn't been close to Silkyflower, but Riverclan felt strangely empty without them in some ways. Fadedsong mourned with the rest of the clan. Life went on though, with its typical dramas. A few moons after Silkyflower's death, the apprenticed rebels were allowed to become full members of the clan again, though they were to be monitored with skepticism by some. Around this time, Cobrastorm was removed from the nursery after a violent altercation and Lavendersky broke up with him as a result. He was barred from the nursery, where his kit remained. He was deemed Cobra afterwards, having to go through another retraining period like the rebels had. Fadedsong felt adamantly that he should have just been kicked out of the clan, point blank.

With normalcy having returned to the clans, Fadedsong finally began to address the feelings that fae had started to recognize towards Lilybreeze... although they still scared faer.

PERSONALITY:

POSITIVE: Brave - Compassionate - Obedient

Fadedsong isn't afraid to do whatever it takes to defend faer clan. It's clear that fae was born with the heart of a warrior. Although Fadedsong rarely shows it, fae's very compassionate and cares about the lives of the clanmates around faer even if fae isn't very involved in them. Fadedsong is deeply obedient and respectful, willing to follow any order a superior gives her.

NEUTRAL: Stoic - Reserved - Stern

Fadedsong is no stranger to heartache and is already stoic by nature. Fae rarely shows much emotion, even when upset. Fadedsong is very reserved with faer thoughts and faer heart, afraid to share them too often for fear of them being shattered or broken. Due to this, fae’s pretty quiet and tends to keep to faerself. Fae doesn't have much to say to anyone. Fadedsong is very stern and has high expectations of her clanmates to follow the warrior code.

NEGATIVE: Bitter - Unreadable - Irritable

Fadedsong can't help but have some bitterness towards Starclan and, at times, life in general. If they're all powerful, she wonders why they've allowed so much to happen. Fadedsong can be unreadable, faer face a constant mask of neutrality. This doesn't make socializing with faer very easy. Fadedsong isn't one to snap, but it doesn't take much to get on her nerves either. Patience is something she's had to teach herself.

  • "I'm not sure what to make of you. Your lack of confidence is confusing and deterring, especially since you clearly know what you're doing."

"You got the job done. Thank you."

- Fadedsong respects Rimescale as faer former mentor, although his lack of confidence at times is irritating to faer. Tey aren't especially close, but she appreciates his hard work and dedication to her training.

LILYBREEZE

[ Crush ]Screenshot_2024-03-09_142038.png?ex=65ff

  • "I don't trust you. Not in the slightest. Everything about you feels... fake."
  • "Okay... so maybe you're not fake. But that doesn't mean I trust you."
  • "Great Starclan, how things have changed... I can't imagine life without you at this point and I don't want to."

Fadedsong's feelings towards Lilybreeze have come a long way from the initial resentment. Fae still isn't entirely sure what they are, but fae certainly knows it's not mere friendship. Above all else, fae has come to trust Lilybreeze with faer life.

"You turned out well. I'm proud."

Fadedsong is proud of the warrior that Sorrelstrike and Slatestorm have become. Fae still feels honored to have been a mentor twice.
