Mellody has had an unfortunate life. She grew up in a warm and caring household, with a loving mom, dad, and older sister, but that was all taken away from her at the age of six, when her parents died in a car crash. She and her sister had been at home with their babysitter when the news came, and things only got worse from there. They had no close family members who could take them in, and ended up separated in the foster care system.

Mellody never lasted long with one family due to her unpredictable behavior and tantrums. Her experience in the system was a negative one, and over time she began upsetting the adults on purpose. She wants to make it clear that SHE'S the one with the upper-hand, not the adults. Of course, this only makes things more difficult for her. She doesn't care.

Eventually she ends up going to Blu's school. Things begin just like they always would, with her deciding to cause trouble on purpose at school (she wakes up every day and chooses Violence), messing with the other kids in her playful, sarcastic way. But it isn't long before she hears about "the boy with the ability to erase memories". He's quite well-known at school, which she finds odd seeing as he's usually alone at lunch and in the hallways. He strikes her interest however, and decides he would be the perfect target for her never-ending shenanigans.

Their friendship has a rocky start, considering Mellody spends her first few days knowing him trying to make his life miserable, but she eventually realizes there's more to him than she thought at first - that he has his own struggles, most of them centered around his complex feelings about his ability and his loneliness - and they become close friends. It's new for both of them to have someone to share their struggles with, someone who will actually listen to and understand what they're going through. Mellody helps Blu assert himself and improve his self-confidence, and Blu lends an ear whenever Mellody needs to vent, often finding himself keeping her from making stupid impulsive decisions. They end up having something similar to a sibling relationship, Mellody being the "older sister" despite being younger than him.

(More on her personality and interests specifically: She's very sarcastic and unnecessarily dramatic. She hides her feelings behind a smile and a taunting, sickeningly-sweet personality (intended to mock other people, of course). She has a lot of pent up anger and frustration due to hiding her emotions all the time and usually lets it out through playing the drums, her favorite hobby. It bothers the heck out of her foster parents, but boy oh boy does it bring her joy. Bonus points if the neighbors start complaining, too.)

Mellody grew up with a loving family, consisting of two parents and an older sister named Maegan. Her parents had been taking her to acrobatics class since she was 3. She was a very curious and well-behaved child, but she was also very accident prone and often got into trouble. She had a close relationship with her sister.

Unfortunately, both of her parents died suddenly when she was six years old. She and her older sister had no close family that could take them in, so they were put into the foster system and ended up separated. Mellody had a poor experience in the foster system, never lasting long with one family due to her unpredictable behavior and tantrums. She eventually developed a hatred for adults and stopped trying to get along with the foster families.

At the time the story takes place, Mellody has once again been taken in by a new foster family and starts attending Madysin Valley School, where she meets Blu. She has no intention of staying, as always. She causes trouble on purpose at home and doesn't try to make friends at school. However, she begins to change her opinions on certain things after befriending Blu.
