Seth Glasmelt

Seth Glasmelt
24 y/o
6'8 ft
Transmasc (He / They)
Bisexual
Dragonborn
Pirate Captain

Design Notes

He's specifically a blue dragonborn. His scale colors are very bright and vibrant.

Looks a bit more like lizard-y than most dragonborns. Design is vaguely based on a sailfin lizard. He has a parietal eye due to this.

When not wearing scale mail, he tends towards very stereotypical pirate attire.

Greatest Strength

His unyielding optimism. He's not one to give up, no matter how bad things may be, and he sees the best in most everyone. Even so, they aren't naive, and won't let people walk all over them or others. He just has a good heart!

Greatest Weakness

His stubborness. He's the sort to dig his heels in the ground and refuse to budge an inch, especially when he feels like he's being attacked.

Breath Weapon

Seth can exhale lightning in a 5-by-30 foot line. DC 14 Dex save, 3d6 lightning damage on a fail, or half as much on a success.

Channel Divinity

When rolling for thunder or lightning damage, Seth can channel divinity to automatically deal max damage instead.

Healing Magic

Or support magic in general. Being a cleric, Seth has access to a wide array of spells that fall under these categories.

Positive Traits

Seth is a good boy with a heart of a gold. He likes making people happy, forming meaningful friendships, and doing good deeds whenever and wherever he can. He'd much rather talk to enemies than duke it out, though he's fairly tough, and can fight when needed. He's got a strong sense of self and justice.

Neutral Traits

Seth is also stubborn- which can be a positive or negative, depending on whether you're on his side or not. He doesn't usually think things through, preferring to act quickly. He puts a lot of weight into those he thinks of as family, as well as the teachings of his god, Habbakuk.

Negative Traits

Most glaringly, he's dumb as a bag of rocks. He's fairly codependant with his co-captain and partner, Mortemer, and has trouble when they aren't around. When it comes to people outside his crew, he can be quite flaky. He doesn't enjoy being tied down, and will up and leave towns without warning.

Friends

One of the ship's captains! A strong-willed guy, who's always looking out for the best interests of everyone around him. Very good, lots of dad energy.

Strangers

An odd man... he's rather polite for a pirate, isn't he? He's a breath of fresh air. Too bad he'll be leaving town again soon.

Enemies

A complete and total idiot. And whenever you try to fight him, he just tries to have a conversation- how annoying!

I'm on my own, you're at the beach, hundreds of miles away.

Seth was born in one of the smaller portside villages. He grew up in a constantly-changing town. Adventurers, sailors, and, although infrequently, sometimes even pirates all passed through. It was exciting- but it also made Seth aware of how unchanging his own life was. Not to say his life was bad- he had two amazing mothers who ran a successful bakery that all sorts of travelers frequented. It was a good life- it just wasn't the life he wanted.

At the age of 12, he was on the docks- a place he frequented often. He had followed some rather nice sailors down, and, as their ship was pulling out, had made an impulsive decision. He took a running start, leaping out, ready to join some grand adventure! ...and immediately, fell into the ocean. He didn't know how to swim- fear overtook him, realizing that he was very likely going to drown...

What will it take to make or break this hint of love?

Seth didn't die that day. He woke up instead on the beach, having been apparently saved. He returned home, not quite understanding what had happened that day. After going back down the beach a couple times, he finally met his savior- a squid-like merperson, who appeared to be about the same age as Seth. At first, he was just grateful that the hylotl- Mortemer- had saved him and eager to hear about their travels, but their friendship quickly became a lot deeper than that. Soon after they had met, Mortemer gifted Seth a pink seashell that he could wear around his neck, keeping a matching blue one for themself. Neither knew it at the time, but this gesture marked their engagement.

With Mortemer around, Seth didn't try any more running away stunts- although, he still yearned to see the world. He couldn't 100% understand why Mortemer hung around town when they could leave whenever, but he didn't question it. He enjoyed hanging around them, after all! Though, when he was 16, he went down to the beach as usual to meet up with Mortemer. However, Mortemer never showed up... after a solid week, Seth realized something was wrong.

Message in a bottle is all I can do, standin' here hopin' it gets to you

When Seth did leave home, he didn't run away. At 17 years old, he properly told his mothers goodbye, found a ship that was looking for a crew, and set sail. The ocean was a large place and he knew finding Mortemer wouldn't be easy, but... he couldn't bring himself to be intimidated. This was the life he wanted, after all, and he truly believed anything was possible. It was this pure-hearted belief that attracted the god Habbakuk's attention, granting him his clerical powers.

Seth spent 7 years with this crew, growing his divine powers and learning the ways of a sailor. It wasn't always easy, but that was just fine by him- he was happy. This all came crashing down when the ship was attacked. Sure, the crew was strong, but they were no match for genuine pirates. Seth was taken as a prisoner during the encounter, though that didn't actually last long, as the rest of the prisoners were able to throw a coup, taking control of the ship.

Take me, so breathless. We could be reckless!

It was while Seth was still settling into the new crew that he found Mortemer. Or, rather, Mortemer was the one who found them. They had been captured by a different group of pirates all those years ago, and once free, had also been trying to find Seth. It was only once they were reunited that Seth realized he was in love with Mortemer- though, he decided not to say anything for the time, instead just happy to have his best friend back.

The new crew didn't work out well- apparently, joining a group simply because you all had been captured by the same people wasn't all that strong a bond. Before the disbanding, though, Seth and Mortemer got together, saved the world, and saved a whole bunch of blind orphans. Since most of them didn't have a home to return to, when Seth and Mortemer decided to continue traveling, the orphans followed suit, forming their new crew... they might be an odd bunch of pirates, preferring to stay away from violence and just have fun exploring the world, but- it's a good life. It's the life Seth had always wanted.

Seth loves meeting new people and making friends- though, because of his sailor lifestyle, he finds it hard keeping in constant contact with people. There's only a handful who he makes that effort for.
