Reina

Reina used to work in the Octarian military. She was training to be a part of the combat army. During training, she befriended a fellow female octoling who was also in the same position as her, hoping to be a part of the army. This octoling’s name was never revealed to Reina. Even when they recognized they had feelings for each other and ended up together, she never knew the name of her own girlfriend. To Reina, she simply referred to her as “love.” 

However, after 6 months of dating her girlfriend, Reina began to see how unjust the Octarian society really is. She found their teachings and laws unfair and sexist, seeing how only females served in the military and workforces. Reina knew that telling her newly formed beliefs to her girlfriend would absolutely destroy their relationship. Her “love” was fully dedicated to the Octarian army, willing to do anything to sacrifice her life for it. Finally, one day, Reina knew it was now or never. Her girlfriend began noticing her absence from training, causing her to question Reina for it. Reina simply replied with, “I can’t give myself up for the Octarian military. Octavio was never right.” After further explanation, silence came upon the two octolings. A noise of impact broke the silence, Reina's girlfriend slapped her hard in the face. She continued to strike her, kicking her to the ground, cursing at her. 

As Reina expected, the two broke up. Reina’s girlfriend just couldn’t accept her separating from the army.

Shortly after the breakup, Reina changed her appearance. The jacket she possessed was worn more often. She cut her hair into a side cut. She recieved an extra piercing. Overall, she looked like a completely new person. Reina, now on her own, took her own path in staying as far away from Octarian society as possible. She found a place to stay far out from the area she grew up in. This new location was where she would inevitably meet Clyde. She found him during a stroll through the vast, emptied area. She first heard a song, a gentle one, sung by what sounded like a boy with a raspy voice. Upon investigating, she found the voice coming from a treehouse-like structure, built upon stone and dead sea trees. Climbing up to the small structure, she discovered the voice coming from a young octoling boy wearing goggles over his eyes and constructing what looked like a small stereo. She watched, hidden from view, seeing that it was indeed the voice she heard. The young boy however saw Reina peeking from a corner, and was startled. He pulled a nearby hammer in defense, calling out to her. She immediately revealed herself, coming out from the corner with hands up showing that she meant no harm. Clyde questioned her further, seeing if she was an enemy or not. After a conversation of introductions, Clyde knew that he could trust her. For the rest of the evening, the two interacted, learning more about each other and their histories. Reina grew immense sympathy for Clyde and his distress for being an unnoticed engineer due to being a minority in the Octarian society. She offered to help Clyde find his true potential by venturing forth to find a new land, to which Clyde agreed to. 

After enough preparation, it was finally time for Reina to depart. She set off on her journey with the homemade walkie talkies, venturing far through the lands. Soon enough, she winds up into the Deepsea Metro, where she meets Telephone, or Commander Tartar. She falls into his trickery that a "promised land" awaits her, willingly taking up the challenge and collecting the 4 Thangs in order to help her dear friend. Unfortunately, her hard effort all goes to waste Essentially, she built her own grave using the 4 Thangs.
