Profile

Gender: F
Kit: Drakefly (DSF-013)
Medal: Kabuto (Rare)
Fighting style: Aerial-based shooting. The Shockstrike (right) and the Sneakstrike (left) are a shotgun and sniper rifle part respectively (Her tail is also good for bonking)
Medafighter: Ryoichi Katou, an 8-year-old- he and his twin sister both received Medabots for their 8th birthday
Personality: Generally friendly, but a bit quieter/more serious around those she doesn't know as well. Everyone gets one chance with her- take advantage of her hospitality and it'll take forever for her to trust you again. Starts out a bit anxious and unconfident, but quickly discovers her full firepower and becomes a lot more sure of herself. Snarky and sarcastic sense of humor, but uses these as an expression of affection. Cares deeply for her loved ones, though it doesn't always show. Has a tendency towards outbursts when pushed too far. She is flustered easily, especially by Kittsu.

Loves flying, but her sense of navigation isn't the best. She's somewhat unobservant and takes a long time to learn geographic areas. She has somewhat severe claustrophobia, and any room (excepting the rooms in the Katou household) in which she cannot fully spread her wings makes her nervous.

Medabots
Ginseng and Pepper's medals were first retrieved by Adachi Katou, father of Kotono Katou and grandfather of Ryoichi and Aimi Katou, at an archeological dig in northern Japan. After being restored to an operating state, they were given to Adachi as retirement gifts, who then passed them to his daughter, Kotono. Once she considered her children old enough, Kotono then passed these down to them to be used in their very own medabots.

Owned by the relatively meek Ryoichi Katou, Ginseng mostly expresses herself through battle. After a couple rough starts, she and Ryo began to get on well, though her penchant for acting independently in battle sometimes results in disagreements. Her power in battle rivals Metabee's, but due to inexperience and trouble handling herself and her emotions in battle, she has a hard time gaining the upper hand against him.

She views Ryoichi, Aimi, and Pepper as her siblings, but has a hard time thinking of Kotono as her "mother". After meeting Kittsu, she soon found herself attracted to her, but didn't act upon it until Kittsu did. She considers Metabee a friendly rival, but doesn't know a lot about his friends. She's enemies with Hoshiro Nokiro, BlackJackal, and Kepri, but has a particular hatred for the lattermost.

In the age of the Medalorians, Ginseng was known as Surumi, a high-ranking soldier in Kyumu's army. However, after being discovered associating with a Kuwagata soldier named Kinshou (who would later be reborn as Pepper), she was killed by Kyumu in a building rigged with explosives. The initial explosion killed Kinshou but not her, and she was slowly crushed to death.

Ginseng had trouble using the Medaforce, despite having seen Metabee use it, but finally became capable after having some of her memories as Surumi restored by Hoshiro Nokiro. After learning about her own death, Ginseng requested that these memories be removed, since she was worried having them would affect her relationship with Ryo and particularly Metabee.

Bug Story
Ginseng works with Actias as a waitress at a cafe/cabaret-type establishment in a world inhabited by anthropomorphic insects. She's on friendly terms with most of the staff, including Actias, who in this au is a bodyguard, but has a particular fondness for Actias and Nui. She lives in a large adoptive family in the poorer part of her city under Surumi's care and is one of the main breadwinners. She hopes to eventually make enough to find her own place, but wants to continue supporting her family.

EVO
EVOs are household robots which are often used to do basic chores/jobs that are too dangerous for humans to do. Seeing as they were sentient and worked well with children, a game called EVO|Knights was created, which pits EVO against EVO in a virtual battleground, with players gradually moving up the ranks of a global scoreboard. EVO Ginseng is two feet tall and has a simpler design than her Medabot counterpart, lacking wings. She uses more physical styles of combat, lacking any form of ranged attack. One of her primary motivations is to find a way to get wings made for her.

Created as a prototype pure-battle EVO by Tyler Katsui, Ginseng soon called for rebellion after discovering Katsui's ultimate plans for EVO|Knights. However, this failed, and everyone part of the rebellion except her wound up being killed, as Tyler intended to reactivate her and make her watch as his plan was set into motion. In the interim, her deactivated body was thrown into Tyler's storage unit, which happened to be owned by Ryoichi's family.

One night the unit was left unlocked, and Ryoichi discovered Ginseng deactivated on the ground. He took her in, repaired her, and reactivated her, and Ginseng soon would up roping Ryoichi into playing EVO|Knights, though she couldn't exactly place why. She also refuses to help around the house, setting her apart from most EVOs.
