Orphaned at a young age in Selarux, Alexei had to learn to survive by any means necessary. As a vampire bat eidolon, he was often confused with actual vampires, and would be chased away, beaten, and attempted to be killed because of it. He lived his life in a constant state of hunger and anxiety until he met a vampire coven masquerading as a theater troupe traveling the novo lands. They took pity on Alexei and welcomed them into their ranks, teaching him manners, acting, and most importantly, how to properly kill prey. After all, it wouldn't be good for the coven for them to wake up hours later, remembering their faces or voices.

Alexei did not need to suck people dry unlike vampires, but in an intense desire to not be abandoned again, he went along with it. His days continued like this, with preforming during the day and feeding at night, only staying in a town for a few days so as to not draw suspicion. In his spare time, he learned how to use magic from one of the older members of the coven, and acceled quickly. Though he was conflicted over his nighttime activites, Alexei truly enjoyed his life for what seemed like the first time in ages.

That wouldn't last for much longer, however. During one performance, Alexei's magical disguise had worn off from exhaustion, revealing himself to be an eidolon to hundreds of novo. The coven went along with it, pretending to be equally as horrified and assisted in his capture, as to not ruin the rest of the troupe's secret. Alexei managed to escape to Kryevot, whose eternal winter discouraged his pursuers from chasing him any longer. He wandered about the forests for a few days, delirious from rage and hunger, only thinking about how to get revenge on his former family.

Eventually, he came across a young boy wearing robes far too expensive for a commoner, lying down in the snow. Alexei immediately wanted to feed from him, but he still had enough sound mind to start plotting. Assuming the boy was from a noble family, they surely would reward Alexei nicely by saving him. He would need a new identity, home, and resources if he were to start a new life, and this idiot novo who walked into the middle of a snowstorm would be his ticket to that. With all of the willpower he could muster to not rip the boy's head off and drink from his neck like a goblet, he scooped him up and carried him back to the city.

Much to Alexei's surprise, the boy turned out to be much more valuable than he previously thought. He was the crown prince of Kryevot of all people, despite being idiotic enough to play in a blizzard. As a reward for saving their son, the Kryevot royals bestowed him a title of nobility. With a new home and (hastily thought up) name, Alexei was comfortable enough to lend his thoughts on the topic of revenge.

• Bats have been attracted to him since he was a child, and he still keeps many in his manor. They're well trained and follow him around when it's dark.
• He can mimick nearly any accent and has enough knowledge of most novo languages to trick someone into thinking he's from that country as long as he doesn't have to speak for very long.
• Due to his years of having nothing and being dirty all the time, he's very particular about his cleanliness and the clothes he wears. He also has a tendancy to buy and hoard expensive objects even if he doesn't need them.
