Adam is a Japanese American 8-year-old kid. His father is Japanese who met his mother born of English descent who was studying abroad in Japan during her college years and the two fell in love. Adam was conceived in Japan but his mother wanted him to be an American citizen so she returned to the States to give birth with his father not far behind Adam was brought up in a multi/cultural home learning to speak English as well as Japanese and experience food, and culture from both his parents' tradition. As Adam began to grow, he started to develop his own identity wanting to fit in more with other American boys but still clinging to aspects of his Japanese heritage to give him a flair of originality which made him seem pretty cool to other students in his class.

Adam is a fairly outgoing person as far as his social life, he enjoys hanging with friends, playing sports and gaining acceptance, however, there is a bit of an edge to his personality, he has issues with authority figures, he often acts out against teachers pushes the limits of any rules set before him. Part of that stems from his stern father but also his level of intelligence and free-spirited aspect of his personality. In addition, Adam struggles with expressing his emotions like anger and sadness and prefers to ignore them which contributes to his acting out in other ways. Overall Adam is a kind-hearted boy despite his edgy exterior and most kids that get to know him like him and his friendships are often ones that last due to his sense of loyalty, however, don't make the mistake of crossing him because once you break that trust with Adam he will never forget it
