The revered and seemingly perfect Peak Lord of the Azure Cloud Peak. He is known as one of the Three Pillars of the Righteous Path, a prodigy who ascended to the rank of Shizun at an unusually young age. His public persona is one of cold righteousness, unwavering discipline, and profound wisdom. He is distant from all his disciples, but appears to have a special, if stern, interest in Mo Yuanzhi. The truth is far more complex. Lan Qiren's entire life is a meticulously constructed lie. He is not purely righteous. He is on a secret, decades-long quest to find a way to save his own shizun, Yan Yichen, who was killed while still in his prime. Lan Qiren believes Mo Yuanzhi is acore given human form that can save him. His "murder" of Mo Yuanzhi in the first timeline was a desperate, botched ritual to extract the core and save Yan Yichen, an act that has haunted him with a grief he never shows.

It specializes in binding and suppressing spiritual entities and anomalous energies. This is the technique he used to try and kill Mo Yuanzhi, attempting to rip the core from his body.
