About
Personality
careless . chaotic . abrasive

uncaring for the feelings of others, darcie loves to prank (read: steal from and torment) her fellow students and her sister. for all she seems cheerful her temper is short; if you've made her angry you'll soon know it. this, apparently, does not apply to darcie's parents, who are oblivious to just about everything not-normal about their daughter.

Story

darcie, for the first few years of her life, is relatively normal. born into a rich family, she immediately aspired in academic aspects, as well as participating in extracurricular activities such as sports and music. her parents delighted in having such an intelligent child- despite the fact that darcie's sister, verity, was gifted in her own right without much of the same fanfare. jealousy bred between the two, and as verity grew into her teen years it only became worse.

then, on her older sister's 16th birthday, darcie died.

having snuck out to buy a cake for her older sister- a peace offering of sorts- she'd been hit by a speeding car. the driver had sped off immediately, leaving a frail body and sickly pink cake strewn across the pavement. a crowd formed, shocked and appalled at the sight, many preparing to call 999- before darcie simply rose up as if it were nothing. pale-skinned, once-black hair streaked with white, the girl simply stumbled away, wiping cake crumbs from her party dress.

the true story is that, by miracle or curse, something hellish had possessed the body on the road that day. motivated by mischief and the urge to torment, darcie's mild, kind nature slowly began to shift. verity, naturally, noticed first; where her sister once didn't respond to her jealous remarks, darcie was now shooting back cruelly. verity's suspicions grew massively, and as a believer of the supernatural she quickly confronted her parents.

but they didn't believe her. how could their perfect little girl be a demon? how could her older sister make up such a ridiculous, horrible lie? darcie, although delighted by the chance to make verity's life hell, was extremely irritated at the lack of belief; after all, there's no entertainment to be found if the people you're supposed to be terrorising aren't terrified in the slightest.

so darcie pushed further. shapeshifting drastically, forcing a red glow to her eyes, greeting her parents with a knife and a deadly grin when they came home from work. these were the same things that had horrified her classmates (though as a star student, reporting her had little consequence) yet everything seemed to have an excuse for her parents. partly amused and largely angry, darcie decided that killing them would be admitting loss; she would convince those people whether it took her to their deathbeds or not. it didn't mean that watching verity's hopeless attempts to expose her was any less hilarious, though.

well into her little game of terrorising just about everyone around her, darcie notices immediately when the new girl attending her school seems unfazed by her chaotic behaviour. ophelia, deep violet eyes and paper pale skin, simply stares noncommitally at darcie's attempts of horror, but being her annoying self darcie continues annoying her anyway. somehow, this forms a friendship, and although ophelia hasn't spoken of why she's attending the school, the way the shadows skim her form and anger fizzes in the air when they pass through the halls shows there's something beneath the surface. they both see eachother for what they are, and darcie hates to admit it's almost a relief to not have to continue the act in front of at least one person.

now sixteen and in her final year of secondary school, darcie is content to live her life like this; perpetually annoyed at her parent's skepticism, constantly tormenting verity and the other students at her school. but the question is- how long can this go on? with only a few years to go before darcie will be moving away to university, she's determined to end this game on her own terms. but will fate let her?

Relationships
verity // sister

verity and darcie would probably get along fine, if not for the fact that verity is constantly attempting to expose darcie for what she really is. her parents are one thing, but the entire student body?

but verity's always been jealous of her sister's success, of course she'd spread such a strange rumour..

ophelia // ???

darcie's never actually heard ophelia say they're friends, but she's pretty confident they are. ophelia is unexpectedly playful considering her quiet nature; her more subtle approach to terrorising people is admittedly quite fun to watch. they cheat on tests and stare dead at the camera in school photos together, and it's fun!

it's just that sometimes darcie's unbeating heart seems to awake in her presence. it's just that sometimes there's a way ophelia looks at her. sometimes darcie dares to think there could be something more for them.
