Arsène is a royal Kazo who was supposed to become one of the guardians of his master's palace, but the kingdom fell before he was old enough to take his place. After his mother was killed by a Kitsune, he was adopted by another Kitsune who had just lost her son in the same battle, and though he spent many years under her care, Arsène later kills her out of anger, grief, and the instinctual feud between Kitsune and Kazo. To make up for the death of his family, he steals ornaments, hoping that he will be able to grant them eternal fortune in the afterlife.

Arsène has a very conflicted personality. He loves his mother and finds comfort in her for taking care of him after the death of his biological mother, but he also hates Kitsune and still harbors a grudge against them. He hates other Kazo, yet desperately wishes for their companionship deep down. Truly what Arsène is, is extremely hurt and without a way to properly vent a messy torrent of emotions he directs them outwards at others, particularly at other Kazo, who he kills without mercy, hoping that the ornaments he killed for will make them happy.

Arsène is a aloof and cold individual who seems to have very little empathy or sympathy for others. While he's usually quite reserved, he'll go out of his way to silence those who oppose him in even the most trivial way, usually with threats. He doesn't believe his actions are wrong because he believes he's working for the greater good of his family. When he's not in a situation he can fight himself out of, he comes off as rather awkward, due to his lack of socialization, especially around other Kazo, who he simply views as walking ornaments. He gets along better with Kitsune, but doesn't like them very much either. He views Kaito as the lowest forms of life due to feeling like he's entitled to the ornaments of other Kazo, and will go out of his way to harm or kill anyone caught stealing ornaments.

Kagu-Tsuchi (カグツチ), also known as Hi-no-Kagutsuchi or Homusubi is the Japanese god of fire. having been imbued with this Kami's magic, Arsène can channel some of his power through himself.

Arsène has the ability to create lava-like saliva. It is extremely hot, reaching temperatures of up to 2000° F/1250° C and melting through nearly anything. He himself is immune to it, and can turn it on and off at will. The longer he uses it, the hotter it gets. He often uses it to make and manipulate metal tools.

He also has the strength of an Oni and the tails and shapeshifting ability of a Kitsune, due to his alliances with both Yōkai.
