(Past) HUMAN YEARS

Valentino does not like thinking about his past. While he misses some aspects of being human, he does not wish to remember his old life. As his family was always traditionally involved with the Hunter Association, he was expected to attend the Academy and train as a Hunter. For a while, he was forced to attend the training. He was not interested in graduating, and he would often miss sessions on purpose.

As a young adult, after his father’s death, something snapped. As if realizing how quick everything could end, he started actively rebelling against the lifestyle his family had picked for him. He refused to spend his best years — and possibly his life — doing something he hated. His family threatened him in any way they could, but he soon started to misbehave. He started hanging around in the wrong places, actively trying to engage with vampires.

At first, Valentino hoped this would get him banned and send a message, but this changed when he met Tiziano, a half-blood. As he started falling for him, he realized he didn’t want his family — or the association — to find out about it. They ignored his interest in men, and the scandal would likely hurt his lover. The secret didn’t last long, however, and he was soon forced to face the full consequences of his actions. Tiziano — whose relationship to him might always been a bit insincere — left shortly afterwards.

Not wanting to return to his family and refusing to attend the academy, he attempted to leave his life behind. This decision left him vulnerable, which soon led him into Alexander’s arms.

ALEXANDER (Present and past)

Valentino is Alexander’s half-blood. The two have a terrible relationship; although not cruel, Alexander doesn’t care about his half-blood and ends up neglecting him. He rarely spends time with him, preferring to ignore his presence. The only exception, of course, is when he needs to give him an order. Usually, Valentino begrudgingly agrees and seldom rebels to his master’s requests. Despite the resentment, the desire to please him and earn his pureblood’s respect is ingrained in his being.

Since the nature of their connection prevents him from rebelling, Valentino has mixed feelings about their relationship. He hates the way he feels around Alexander, the way he struggles to object to his requests, but he feels trapped. The instinctive reactions to his master’s orders, compliments or criticism never fail to disturb him. He considers those feelings alien to him.

Their relationship wasn’t always sour. After breaking up with Tiziano, Valentino found comfort in Alexander. He suspected  the vampire’s affection wasn’t honest, but he felt too lost and lonely to refuse it. He was content accepting his lies. Knowing his former colleagues would consider this relationship a taboo only excited him—it was his personal way to rebel. Alexander would drink his blood, show him the coven, and encourage him to leave his life behind. The latter was an appealing proposal, but Valentino was reluctant to agree. Vampirism was appealing, but he still had a human life, and he still feared Alexander.

The pureblood, though, didn’t leave him much choice. He demanded him to turn, letting him choose between a life with him and an empty life. Worried the vampire would still take him by force, Valentino felt trapped. He was —quite literally — in Alexander’s hands, and his cold glare and half-veiled threat paralyzed him. He could only listen to his alluring words. Hesitant but worried his human life would be as empty and vapid as Alexander said, Valentino fell under his spell and agreed.

What he didn’t know was Alexander didn’t want a complete half-blood. He wanted a chained half-blood. One bound to him, forever. Valentino has not forgiven Alexander for turning him into a ££ half-blood and abandoning him, and he swears he never will. Still, his very nature of ££ doesn’t allow him to hate Alexander.

Personality (and other stuff)

Valentino is a young vampire. He still feel close to humans and humanity, even if he doesn’t necessarily think they’re inherently good. Despite his bets attempts to detach himself from them, he keeps falling for humans. He relates to their hardships and pains, and often ends up picking them as his companions, partners or friends. He is, however, a bit apprehensive about their fragility.

After a few years, he has learned to love being a vampire. He might not want to leave humans behind, but he enjoys the perks of immortality. Knowing his future can extend for centuries eased his old fears and anxiety, and he’s convinced he can finally be himself and build the life he wants. Even with Alexander’s interference, he’s determined to find his own goal.

Valentino’s character has changed a lot after turning—perhaps it would be more correct to say he stopped hiding. He is way more open about his sexuality and self-expression. He can be feminine and enjoys feeling pretty. Sometimes Valentino feels uncertain about his identity, as he doesn’t necessarily feel like a ‘man’. Although he is generally not interested in sex and rarely experiences sexual desire, he is romantically interested in every gender. He seems to have a very slight preference for masculine people, but he is open to dating anyone.

He considers himself a romantic person, and he likes looking for the deeper meaning in things. He enjoys art and music, but he hasn’t had time to practice much. He briefly considered writing poems and occasionally goes back to his notebook.

Valentino deeply enjoys the company of others and can be very affectionate and caring. Making him angry is hard. Not a violent individual, he’s mindful of his strength and claws. He can get slightly snappy or sarcastic when exasperated or with those he doesn’t trust, though. He’s patient, but doesn’t tolerate vulgar or ruthless behaviors. Filth in general makes him a bit squeamish.

Despite his best attempts to appear elegant and optimistic, deep down, Val is very melancholic. He still feels a little lost and tends to overthink; sometimes worrying about others is his way to ignore his own problems. The accident with both Tiziano and Alexander’s left him a bit more anxious and prone to negativity, something he is trying to fight. He also tends to have a submissive personality.

He hates feeling alone, which is partly why he decided to take in a stray cat, Tesoro. His cat is spoiled and Valentino tries  to take good care of him.

Val is definitely a bit vain. His clothes, behavior and style are deliberate, and he’s not ashamed of it. He occasionally wears makeup to match his outfits. Shades of pink and purple are his favorite colors.

(In most verses)

Currently, he is in a relationship with Byron, another half-blood. Byron is slightly older than him, and their personality could only be described as opposite. Byron is bold, and he tries to encourage Val to take some risks and exploit his immortality to the fullest. On the other hand, Val often has to stop him from being too impulsive. They’re an affectionate couple. They often take little trips to take a break from the coven. Valentino really admires Byron.
