Vesuvius has always had a bit of an anger problem, so went for a while without becoming very close to anyone. However, Pompeii reached out to Vesuvius in an attempt to help them feel less lonely, and although they became best friends, Vesuvius stopped trying to talk to anyone else. They became very clingy to Pompeii and although they never tried to hurt her, they accidentally dragged her away from things she wanted to do multiple times. Vesuvius never felt romantically attached to Pompeii, but it may have seemed that way to others. Pompeii also had a strong parent-child bond with London.
One day, Pompeii tried to tell Vesuvius that the way they were living wasn't healthy and they should try something new. This made Vesuvius very upset, to the point where their lava and ash powers went wildly out of control and ended up killing Pompeii. Although this was the end of Pompeii's life, her memory certainly lives on in all of her friends. They miss her dearly.
