Isla Estrelle is a woman whose nature is thinly disguised behind a veil. Her character has been carefully crafted to maintain a sense of elusiveness. Her demeanor conveys the idea of someone self-assured and comfortable with their place in the world. Most of her interactions with people are curt and laced with wittiness. She speaks with such certainty and carries herself in such a nonchalant way that there is no room to question her intentions. She seems to face life’s obstacles with confidence. However, the poise that Isla carries herself with is nothing more than a guise. She does not look to deceive people, but most questions are answered with blunt half-truths. Once Isla’s personality shines through her demeanor, it’s clear that there is more to Isla than her collected exterior offers.

Isla’s attempts to maintain a cool exterior are futile in the long run. Isla is anything *but* cool. Isla is a hot-headed, assertive woman who is fueled by passion. Isla feels her emotions very vividly, but it is something she embraces even if she can be shy about expressing them. She is prone to some anxious tendencies, but her overthinking doesn’t have a strong hold over her character. Isla approaches social situations bluntly, always saying what is on her mind and reacting to situations accordingly. Isla is not fond of social pleasantries, especially when she is not working. These qualities when paired with her sarcastic tendencies can make her seem quite unpleasant. She may have a big mouth, but Isla is quite good-natured when it comes down to it.

Beyond her short fuse and witty remarks is a person who cares very much about doing right to the world. Once Isla begins to care for another person, nothing will shine brighter than her loyalty. She has a lot of compassion for the world and the people around her, even if she makes many teasing remarks toward her loved ones.

While Isla can certainly be a tender person with her loved ones, getting closer to Isla also means her boisterous tendencies begin to jump out. When her time isn’t occupied by work, Isla is always seeking something entertaining to do. She is prone to trouble-making, though she is quite sneaky with how she goes about it. Isla lives by the phrase “Well… so long as we aren’t caught. Let’s do it!”. Her behavior can make her seem untroubled, but Isla is not a carefree person.

At her core, she’s a very driven person. She always seems to be reaching for the stars, coming up with goals and ideas that are beyond her capabilities. The remarkability in her character comes from her determination and willingness to work hard. While she is prone to self-doubt and shame at times, nothing will stop Isla once she puts her mind to something. She can be incredibly stubborn, but it is arguably one of her merits. However, there are times her determination to fulfill her goals can clash with her reckless tendencies. Isla is prone to pushing herself too far or walking into situations that may harm her in the long run due to being blinded by her own will.

From the very beginning of Isla’s life her family dynamic was complicated. Isla was born after a short-term rendezvous between a muggle (Lissandra Estrelle) and a wizard (Yegor Vavilov). At the time of Isla’s birth, Yegor was occupied with his job as an Auror for the Ministry of Magic, so the two agreed to leave Isla in the hands of her mother with visits from her father.

Isla’s upbringing was free of magic, which was something that would eventually come to affect her down the line. When Isla was one, Lissandra met her boyfriend who would eventually become Isla’s stepfather. The duo raised Isla along with her sister Marina, who was born when Isla was three years old. Isla and Marina were attached by the hip from a young age, but things were not always easy for the Estrelle family. As the two sisters grew older, Marina experienced severe hearing loss. Isla’s parents struggled to split their attention between both of their children, leaving Isla emotionally unfulfilled. Despite all this, Isla was never upset with her parents.

Once Isla turned nine years old, her magical powers began to set in. Isla would bottle up her frustration, many of which revolved around school or her friends, and it would manifest magically instead. Items would rattle and fall from shelves, small glasses would break, and other minor mishaps seemed to always occur when Isla was around. Her schoolmates thought it was uncanny and began to tease her for it, resulting in Isla becoming increasingly frustrated with her surroundings. She became quite hostile with her schoolmates due to the unexplained alienation she felt. This behavior caused a rift to form between Isla and her muggle parents.

On 22 July 2024, Isla received her letter to Hogwarts. With the help of her father, Isla departed the muggle world for a new beginning in the wizarding world. Learning that magic was real fascinated the young Isla, who eagerly decided to skim the pages of her textbooks to see what she may be learning once she started at her new school. One textbook, in particular, seemed to draw Isla in the most: *The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection*. From there, Isla’s love for Defense Against the Dark Arts began to sprout.

Isla was quickly sorted into Slytherin after arriving at Hogwarts and her life in the wizarding world has officially begun. The young girl was enamored by the school and all the new things she was learning. She fostered a close friendships with Isaac Hiltshire, Tristen White, and Roz Claesson (who would eventually become known as the Scapegraces).

As Isla grew closer to her father, she learned that he was an Auror. Despite Yegor expressing some minor grievances with the job, Isla was enamored by the idea of having such a glorious career. Considering her headstrong tendencies and desire to protect her loved ones, it seemed like a perfect fit for her. Isla loved the idea of having a job that could better the world, so she pursued it. Isla spent a lot of her adolescence fooling around and getting into shenanigans with her friends, but she always seemed to maintain a strong focus on her goals.

Isla was well aware of the fact she was not a gifted witch. Other than the fact she was prone to accidental Thaumaturgy, she didn’t have any special abilities. All of her merits were earned through hard work and determination. Isla was able to learn the Patronus Charm in her fourth year and cast non-verbally in her fifth. Her remarkableness was not a gift, but something she put her mind to earning.

The wizarding world had fully taken hold of Isla, pulling her away from her muggle roots Marina also turned out to be a witch, leaving Isla with little desire to return to the muggle world. Once her fifth year was done, Isla moved into her father’s home near Diagon Alley. There was no turning back for her at that point.

Unfortunately, Isla did not become an Auror. She ended up a Hit Witch after being told her skills were more suited for combat rather than investigation. Still, a job at the Ministry of Magic was a huge accomplishment. Not only that, but she had gotten lucky enough to go out with the object of her affection, Roz Claesson. To have a good job, spend time with her loved ones, and even become an item with the person she loved was the ideal life. With the money she earned from work, she purchased a small flat in Hogsmeade to build her life in. Everything was lovely.

Too bad the good wouldn’t last. Isla witnessed her colleagues performing sloppy work. Many had joined the Ministry for the title or for the advantages it gave, not out of good intentions. And Merlin, some of Isla’s colleagues were some of the worst wix she had ever had the misfortune of encountering. The Ministry was plagued with prideful, inhumane, greedy people. It was a harsh reality to wake up to, and it would make Isla miserable. She witnessed many awful things, many of which barely even scraped the surface she had begun to uncover. After many moral disagreements with her colleagues and Isla suspecting them of illicit activity, she was not able to continue anymore. Everything felt so wrong, and Isla felt so sickened by the way the Ministry had changed her.

Isla quit her job at the Ministry of Magic just shy of turning twenty-two. The life she would pursue afterward was one she never even considered in the past. The conflict between her morals vs. what she had been trained to think was correct plagued her. Her relationship with Roz did not work out, leaving Isla with no semblance of stability. She didn’t know who she was anymore.

After fastening a veil to her most favored hat, Isla left the United Kingdom to pursue lost trails. She became a witch without an identity. She could be anything she wanted to be. The pseudonym “Edelweiss” had been bestowed upon her by a small magazine speaking about one of her escapades. For a while, it was cathartic. She was doing the right thing on her terms. But such a life could only last for so long, especially when there was only so much self-discovery one could do while never being seen for who they are. That’s why Isla returned to the United Kingdom. To be able to reunite with loved ones is to be empowered. That was why Isla started all this, wasn’t it? To do right by the world?

With newfound hope, Isla continues on this path as Edelweiss to uncover new mysteries and protect those in need. But this time, she is not alone.
