Personality

Petiole is much like their aunt Fluttershy; shy, meek and afraid of most things. They are very kind, even to a fault sometimes, letting others walk all over them. They aren’t very strong, both in body and will, but they are smart and quick witted, often coming up with ways to achieve their goals without the use of violence. They are quiet and only talk when spoken to. They show their care towards others by hugs and head-bumps.

Appearance

Petiole is a purple and green changeling with some dragon-like features. Their body is mainly purple with darker markings, and has green wings and shell, horns and claws, as well as light green belly. Their eyes are dark green. They have three light green jewel-like scales on their chest. They have a dragon-like long tail, and light green, transparent membrane, similar to other Changeling tails, on it. Their magic and fire is green.

Relationships

Their parents

Spike and Thorax are Petiole’s dads, and super protective of their little miracle. While Thorax is the more overbearing and a bit stoic parent, Spike is the fun-dad who, while also a bit overprotective, lets Petiole try their wings whenever possible. Petiole loves both of their dads dearly.

Their friends

Petiole is most close with Patches and Billy, latter whom they have a crush on. They have a pretty good relationship with Angel, Cheese and Red as well, even after the Rise of Red Star.

The Elements

Petiole is definitely the closest with auntie Twilight, but also Applejack and Rainbow Dash as they are the parents of their best friend. They also grow close with Fluttershy as she teaches them about Kindness.

Uncle Pharynx

Petiole is everything to Pharynx. From the moment they hatched, Pharynx has been there to protect the little grub with his life. He can get aggressive if anyone ever so much as looks at Petiole wrong. Petiole likes their uncle, and respects him greatly.

Backstory

When Spike was finally old enough to leave the nest, he decided to do a bit of travelling around Equestria to truly find himself. Until now he had only been the dragon living among ponies, but he wanted to be more than that. Spike travelled for many years, only occasionally meeting up with his friends to catch up and celebrate things like weddings and births of their children. Eventually Spike’s travels took him to the Changeling Kingdom where Thorax welcomed him to stay as long as he wanted. The old friends reconnected, and soon they found their feelings deepening. Eventually, Spike finally confessed and the King of Changelings accepted those feelings with open hooves. They dated for a while, and eventually married.

Surprising both of them, about six months from getting married, Thorax laid an egg. They had not been aware that a dragon and a changeling were capable of having offspring together, but after a small panic, decided to do their best to welcome their child into the world. Soon Petiole was born. Changelings are considered genderless unless they decide to pursue a specific gender-role as they grow up, so Petiole grew up in an environment that didn’t force them to conform into any specific gender, and thus never found the need to make that choice. Due to Thorax and Spike being overly protective of Petiole, it took them some time to actually meet anypony outside the hive and even longer to make friends. Strangely enough, the shy and meek Petiole immediately clicked with the brash and brave Billy, and the two became good friends. At some point, Equestria came under attack, and Petiole helped their friends defeat the evil, and the Tree of Harmony granted them with the Element of Kindness. They were there to help defeat and save Red Star from corruption and stayed by her side to support her recovery and redemption. Now they live peacefully, waiting for the next time fate whisks them and their friends into an adventure.

Pharynx had trouble finding a good term to call Petiole, as both nephew and niece were gendered. They decided to go with the gender-neutral “nibling” instead.

Petiole is good at singing, but too shy to do it in front of people.

Petiole can change, just like any other changeling, as well as breathe green fire like their dad, Spike.
