Born in a in the magic-polluted marsh that were once a battleground between Spring and Autumn Court, Devileye met Sunset, Ratfoot, and their children while they were seeking refuge among the trolls in the marsh when Devil was just a child. Devileye had always had an interest in magic, and seeing Sunset help clear out some of the still-active strains of Spring and Autumn magic made her seek out the fairies, eager to learn more. Devil quickly bonded with the fairy children, who, unlike most of Devil's peers, were not put off by her strange, cold demeanor and piercing, staring eyes.

Once the fairies decided to leave the village, Devil was a young adult, and wished to go with them. The fairies and trolls worked out a changeling agreement, and the trolls kept Silktale to raise as their own, while Devileye went to become Sunset's apprentice.

Over the years, Devileye has become Sun and Rat's close friend, confidant, and sparring partner. Her and their youngest, Sparkfinder, are mates, and love each other dearly, to the surprise of many. Apparently opposites attracting runs in the family.

In Spark's youth, he touched his foot to a live vein of autumn magic. Devileye's quick thinking and rudimentary knowledge of Winter magic kept him from decaying before help could arrive, but she was still only an apprentice. Her brave act left her hands frostbitten. Her skin is forever sensitive to cold, and several of her fingers had to be partially amputated, so she can no longer perform winter magic, and forming runes is made more difficult.
