mason is born into a rich family that doesn't have time to deal with raising an unexpected pregnancy in pursuit of greener career goals. the family is always distant, and he never learns how to deal with his emotions , leading many to feel uncomfortable in his presence. he's usually quiet and unnoticed.
mason represses much of his childhood. overt feelings of shame when the parents don't want him, his classmates don't want him and school dismisses him as criminally insane. the sadness pairs well with a covert and newfound love for drugs at the start of his twenties.
mason can't seem to hold down a job; he hops between low-paying entry jobs either due to convenience or boredom. when not convicted for trespassing or homicide followed by a stay at the mental asylum , mason keeps his eyes on his lovers from afar while snorting coke at clubs and sketching nudity in between white lines. he also curbs a vice for materialism caused from deep rooted gender issues and feelings of insecurity and shoplifts.
