Personality
Kept is relentlessly optimistic, cheerful, and always willing to lend a hand, but deep down he has some bad personal issues that he'd rather no one else know about. He doesn't let anyone see him sad ever so he usually comes across as a kind-hearted joker who probably doesn't take things as seriously as he should, but he places no value on his own life and basically lives to help other people with no regard for his own well-being. But he's trying!! He just needs to constantly keep moving and thinking on the bright-side of everything to prevent himself from breaking down and never getting back up again, it’s fine.
Kept also tends to be a bad judge of character and too trusting but he's a natural leader and a genuinely good bird who is better at following his heart than his head, even though that tends to get him in trouble. Often. He's really difficult to make angry too, you would need to be actively trying to make him mad or else he's just going to brush insults off as a joke. The only way to really make him angry is to threaten someone else since, as mentioned earlier, he doesn't care about his own life (though he does get very defensive about his ideals; AFTER ALL, they are the only things that are keeping him moving and out of that super fun Pit of Despair). Also he REALLY LIKES puns and makes terrible jokes often.
History
[expand later] Kept was once a soldier in the Drahten army and was quickly rising in rank but that whole thing sort of had wrench thrown in it during their war with Kivvia when Kept found Serenity stranded after a bandit attack. He brought her back to Drahten where WHOOPS turns out this was actually the princess of Kivvia he sort of just kidnapped. Anyway, lots of things happened and eventually Serenity escaped in a particularly murdery way due to Kept's hesitation in stopping her after they had grown close (AKA he had a massive obvious crush) during his time guarding her and he was ultimately used as a scapegoat for his superior and sentenced to death for treason/conspiring with Kivvia. Kept panicked and also managed to escape in a murdery way and has been on the run ever since!!

- It'd be impractical to carry one with him now, but he's most proficient with lances and war scythes from his time as a soldier. He still enjoys sparring too but he'll die before he ever kills someone again

Serenity
[ sorta ex-girlfriend ] The princess of an enemy nation he sort of accidentally kidnapped since he had no idea who she was and was trying to get her help. He fell in love with her which ended disasterously for everyone, but despite everything he's still grateful to her for helping him realize what his country was actually doing and to stop blindly believe everything they said. He has no idea what happened to her after he left but he hopes she's doing ok.

[ former ally ] They used to be friends who served together in the Drahten army. Kept hopes she's still alive and doing well but also that he'll never see her again since she would probably try to kill him on sight after everything that happened, hahahaaaaaa...... Still, he respected her a lot and they used to joke around and spar when they were younger.
Aza
[ a friend! ] Aza found him bleeding in an alley and is letting him stay with him for awhile! Kept's doing what he can to pay him back, but wow is it just great to spend time with someone again, especially since Aza's so kind. :) Kept could've done without the mind-shattering revelation that magic and immortals were real though.
