Louis

Louis' parents didn't care much about him. At a young age he felt unwanted, but as time passed he started to feel indifferent about them (and pretty much everything else). They only did the bare minimum and so did he. He didn't do well in school but most of the time it was enough to pass so he was fine with that, and since his parents didn't believe he would achieve anything they didn't push him either. He was a quiet kid, not very good at making friends, but he tried not to get in anyone's way as long as they minded their own business too. Still, he would sometimes get into fights. All of them were self-defense since some people mistook him for an easy target to bully, to which he usually responded a bit more violently than he should. Kell, a known troublemaker, liked that style. He was the first person who showed interest in befriending Louis.

They started skipping classes together and Kell got him into building simple weapons in their not-so-free time. It was the first thing Louis felt he was good at. After he finished school, he was not interested in getting higher education. Kell offered him a job in his shady business which was selling handmade guns to (usually) bandits. They lived together continuing work at their gun shop until the lab released a teleporter for public use, and Louis, unfortunately for him, used the device. After a short while from the teleporter release, the users started to mutate and some of them showed animal-like instincts to kill everything in their way, which was why the lab decided to collect all the people who used the teleporter and put them on their old testing site - a small island. Kell tried to fight for his friend's freedom since Louis' mutation wasn’t a threat to others but he got knocked out by a lab guard. Louis agreed to come with them without resisting.

When he was dropped off on the island with all the other people, he stayed away from most of them. He would usually hang out around a garage surrounded by broken machinery and scrap metal. His skills turned out to be useful as the mutants were becoming more dangerous with time and the use of weapons was necessary. The ones who still stayed conscious started to recognize him and come to him for help. For a short while he was well liked, but eventually he outlived most of his friends. There was just him and a few other survivors left - Raptor, Avery, Uranium, Axel, Aurum, Argentum, and Doc. As the last ones standing, they worked together and helped each other out. After living with them for a while, Louis started to be more open with his opinions. Many even considered him as something like a leader figure, even if there was no real leader among them. He especially used to get along with Raptor (before his brain got fried due to mutation), he even made the weapon Raptor is using up to this day.

At some point Louis’ mutation started to rapidly spread from his limbs to the rest of his body and he could barely use his hands anymore. Without telling anyone, because he knew no one would approve of his decision, he collected some scrap metal and abandoned tech from the machines and constructed what was later going to be his new limbs. Then he proceeded to chop off the mutated parts. His friends only realized what he was planning when he showed up without an arm and covered in blood, asked for help and passed out. After that Doc decided to help him with his idea since she knew he would’ve done it anyway, and without her help he could die.

The group continued to survive on the island till Axel made a deal with the lab through the radio - he offered to trade Aurum, a person with an unusual mutation the lab wanted to research, in exchange for mutation slowing medicine. Louis did not agree with that, but Aurum supported Axel's idea and agreed to go to help his friends. Louis had a bad feeling about this, but couldn't do anything if Aurum himself wanted to go. As soon as the trade was over though, Axel didn't agree to share the medicine with anyone. Louis and the rest of the group tried to get their share by force, but Axel ran away and led a group of mutants their way which could have ended tragically if Carol didn't come to help. Soon it turned out that Aurum had to escape from the lab. He stole a boat and came back to the island, bringing two new friends along - Carol and Neil. At first Louis wasn't happy about that since they were from the lab and he thought they would cause problems, but soon changed his mind after he started to get along with Neil. They all were planning to find Axel and get the meds from him, but their plans were interrupted by the lab guards, who were sent to the island after the runaway test subject. Louis survived the battle and later he got a dose of mutation-slowing medicine that was recreated by Neil.
